Gender is a social construction. It doesn’t exist in the same way that race doesn’t exist. Science can’t say anything about it.

People overestimate the extent to which a lot of docs aren’t just glorified body mechanics. This is why you’ll run into the occasional doc with kooky-butt beliefs. Your average MD simply doesn’t have the training needed to say “this is what the science descriptively says,” barring an additional research fellowship or whatever.
