I'm obese. Not going out much during the pandemic has made it worse. I'm vaccinated, boosted, and use N95/KN95 masks everywhere, but if this is to be endemic, it's a matter of time before I get it (like everyone else). That finally got me up my butt and working out. I got dumbells, resistance bands, and started doing strength training and cardio several times a week for the last few months. There's going to be something positive coming out of this whole mess.

jannie moment

So, what you're saying is that a healthy lifestyle, with a proper diet and excercise as well as preventing obesity will enhance your protection against a severe case of covid?

Imagine of this was one of the messages that was widely spread from the start of this whole thing.

yikes

We've known obesity has been a comorbidity of COVID for two years.

clean it up

I've been told that I am a rare case of someone that lost significant weight during the pandemic. 9 years ago I caught a rare disease in which I almost lost the ability to walk and I gained 110 lbs. Previously I was a competitive in my age groups in 5Ks. (I ran varsity mile in college but am 58 now, so I need to make significant age adjustments.)

Remote work during the pandemic gave me control over my working hours for the first time since college. As a result, under the supervision of an integrative medical team and eventually with the help of a weight trainer, I managed to lose 95 of those lbs.

I can add this study to the pile of reasons why I am happy to be merely overweight again (and no longer medically obese).

jannies fear weight loss

Wonder when will the government be introducing mandatory exercise to slow the impact of covid. Can't go to restaurants if your bmi is above 30 or something

JFL so many r-slurs think having dumbbells and some cardio is going to help them lose weight when getting is shape is about eating less. I lost in November - December 10 pounds because I started eating less (I was 210 lbs but I wanted to compete in 200lbs in boxing)

while true, exercise helps build discipline which would help someone maintain a healthy diet. If you get in the habit of exercising it's much more likely you'll get in the habit of eating healthy.

Yes it is still fat shaming, doesn’t matter how it’s peer reviewed or whatever β€œprestigious” title you put on it, it’s fat shaming. Science has had an anti fat bias for years and it’s all based on one study that was conducted by a weirdo who wanted to prove a single person wrong.

Reality leans anti-fat sweatie. One study lol

Yup. Came here looking for this. I expected people on a science sub to grasp that- or at least make an attempt to know what reality is. Which is- excessive extremes on either end impact mortality- and the rest is a bunch of people dunking on weight because they haven’t bothered to check their bias.

:marseychonker2: :marseylaugh:

Fatties deserve every shred of shaming they get. Just put down the fork

@Wiz_the_rednosed_r-slur is an old man and I've seen a few of those powerlifter types drop dead in their 30s. It's far from a healthy lifestyle because they also eat a ton of shitty food too bulk up more.

Hope you had a great Xmas buddy and thanks for you're service and hopefully you don't have too re enlist too invade Russia just too plant a flag that says trans lives matter.

Jump in the discussion.

Running anabolics at that weight is really hard on your heart too, and it doesn't help that most of them never do any cardio.

I had a good Christmas. Got to meet my niece, which was great. Hope you did too.

I'm still in the natty guard, so I'll most likely end up in Europe if shit kicks off. I really doubt that it will though, it's far too risky for Russia with too little reward in my opinion. But if it does, we'll make sure to raise the trans lives matter flag over the Kremlin or die trying.

The 3 @Wiz_the_rednosed_r-slur knew who dead from it all pretty much had Widowmaker massive coronaries. 2 of em were so strong fat the had no necks and walked with their arms out at angles. You could look at em and tell they weren't long for this mortal coil.

Also reminder that a lot of bodybuilders are on the same thing as those who say trans lives matter.
