This is the innate tragedy that modern disability rights groups don't understand: a disability is not a good thing. Walking is not a social construction: it is a material condition. Nobody would prefer not to be able to walk. Really genuine autism (you can still like math/sonic/being indoors/your favorite blanket without being unable to mentalize) is the same. Nobody - including other !neurodivergents - would rather talk to an neurodivergent when an equivalent healthy person is available.

Same goes vice versa. Neurodivergent people far more easily empathize with other neurodivergents. It's why all of my close friends have almost always also been neurodivergent. Its simply easier and less stressful to be around them then NTs.

What makes an neurodivergent person more comfortable to be around isn't their autism, it's their shared experience. It's the same reason the Paralympics exist: it would be uninteresting if they allowed NTs there, but nobody would rather be a paralympian

Aut - ists are able to understand with and empathize with other aut-ists due to shared thinking patterns. This naturally doesn't apply to stuff like ADD or other mental disabilities. Aut - ists score far better on empathy when its other aut-ists.

I wrote it like that to get past the world filter so I could specify tists since ADD/ADHD and other mental disabilities don't apply here. Im just stating a fricking fact get off your high horse

OP "well everyone hates talking to tists because you are weird subhumans "

"well tists feel the same way about you and would rather be around other tists"

Any non lurker who has word filter turned on is already going to read neurodivergent as neurodivergent.

Simply turn off the worldfilter, r-slurion.

Also, the receny neurodivergent cope of "Nuh-uh, actually it's the neurotypicals who are weird!" is beyond pathetic. Same goes for the weird genocidal fantasies.

I think that's just because of shared experience: one neurodivergent can read another's social signals because they both have autism. If an NT were to understand neurodivergent social signals (uncommon) and were tolerant of them (very uncommon), they'd be at least a good a friend as another neurodivergent.

Really? I've largely seen the opposite. Spergs always have trouble with other spergs because their lack of social graces apply to each other. A normie will often be patient and polite unless you really bother them. Many spergs never attempt such things, place no value in these social cues, and so they often burn through each other's patience and their interactions end up being more combative because of it.

Normies are like normal puzzle pieces. They don't always fit with each other but often do.

Spergs are like esoteric, defective puzzle pieces. They don't fit with normies or each other.

I speak not out of malice, but out of experience. I grew up a diagnosed sperg (I call myself RWBY lmao so there's no sense trying to hide it) and my interactions with this "community" taught me these lessons. Whereas other spergs were impatient and hostile unless I agreed with them about every stupid little thing (not allowed to like Fallout 3, not allowed to like the Michael Bay Transformers movies that "ruined" the source material, not allowed to disagree with their interpretation of Star Trek, etc.) normies are polite 99% of the time and will be cordial in a conversation even if they don't care about you at all.

Perhaps even more than the normie who takes it all for granted, I realized the true importance of manners. The need for politeness. I realized this is what I must aspire to in order to do well in society. My fellow spergs were not inspiring. Being more like them was the wrong way to go, like in all those hood gangster movies where the main character goes off to get a job and realizes his "neighbor" neighbors are going nowhere.

Sorry but that's just how it is. Sometimes a disability must truly be overcome, such that "embracing" it as an identity is actually tantamount to giving up in life :marseyshrug:

Unless the other sperg and you share similar special interests then it's probably hard to establish a friendship.

I just let people yap. Typically sperg relationships are a talker and a listener. Im not really an aggressive sperg i feel bad about arguing with people. Everyone of my best friends was also neurodivergent idk maybe im just biased since my other friends all decided i wasnt cool enough and left me out.

Some of my fellow neurodivergent friends are easy to get along with because we're literal about what we want and what we don't. They will simply tell me if they do or don't feel like hanging out, and it's not couched in any euphemism. These guys are all highly intelligent and only moderately ASD, though.

But beyond a certain point, I agree. Lots of ASD people can act selfishly simply through lack of emotional awareness and empathic ability.
