Gintama is just an overall good comedy, very unique, though it's humour has been copied many times since. Ive never watched the anime but the manga itself was top tier too, if a bit too incoherently random at times

I really like it. It's an incredibly silly concept but plays itself completely straight. The tank battles are fun, the country stereotypes are funny (each opposing team is basically larping as a different country), and the sound design is great. The movies are quite good on the animation side of things too. The creators were really into their tank and military history autism as well if that's a thing you're interested in. There's even a whole set of shorts about the tanks in each episode and how they were used in real life. hosted by the in-show resident tank autist Yukari.
