I can't believe that after all the work I've done to deradicalize users of this site, they have fallen back into unbashed, mask-off transphobia. All of the comments I listed above were heavily upvoted and were not challenged by any users. And the worse part? They're still up. That's not even an exhaustive list of all the transphobia in the thread. I just gave up because there were so many, so you are by no means off the hook if your name is not in this post. Shame on Aevann for allowing such hostility to trans people to fester. If Aevann wants to show that he has any sort of moral backbone, he must do the following immediately:
-Remove the thread
-Permantently shutter all the accounts that left transphobic comments in that thread (including their alts)
-Hire a task force of moderators specialized in identifying and removing transphobia
-Double the wages of all moderators
-Institute a strict word filter such that anyone who says a transphobic slur is instantly banned without appeal (including "tr-nny", "tr-in", and "tr-on"

Morphological and chromosomal sexes in Mammalia are a bimodal distribution, not exclusive categories drawn from some Natural Law Eternal Ideals; There are potentially infinite s*x types in humans, and science doesn't prescribe who is "male" and who is "female", only tries to describe the diversity of human sexual types.
Because of this, there are no morphological (nor chromosomal) holotypes nor allotypes for the Homo sapiens taxon, upon which a defensible, "Scientific" axiomatic claim of "S*x" being exclusively, binarily, "Male" or "Female" could rest.
This is an editorial by the editors of Nature, the single highest citation index scientific periodical in the world, supporting this fact, and relating it to gender,
... a social construct related to biological differences but also rooted in culture, societal norms and individual behaviour.
So, here's the thing:

There is a belief that gender is somehow nonphysical. Separation between gender and s*x relegates gender to the "mind" and proposes that prospective transgendered people can have verify things that simply can't be verified.
We're all only endowed with one perspective one would need to somehow experience multiple first person perspectives and contrast them to make this kind of claim. From a single perspective there is no possible way to answer the question "am I a girl or a boy who thinks they're a girl?" conclusively. "CIS" people are equally unable to answer this question. You may be familiar with Nagal's "what is it like to be a bat?" Question in which he concludes
There is an obvious parrellel here, we are Epistemologicallay unable to know what it is like to be either gender from the first person. Making the whole idea of self identification incoherent.
the whole concept of man is rooted in the biological male reality. If we follow this trans idea to its logical conclusion and iterate it completely eats itself. These are purely functional descriptions that can't be incoherent because they work. Male nightingales sit in bushes and sing, female nightingales are attracted to songs and shake their butts at males enticingly, which are in turn attracted to that, and that results in sperm fertilizing eggs. A male nightingale that is attracted to male songs is gay, a male nightingale that shakes his butt instead of singing is trans, some might be both.

Going by what i think is your original contention, that gender is a phenomenal property of the mind, holding some sort of "what it is like"-ness to it, it's may be comparable to Chalmer's dancing qualia thought experiment. Chalmers originally used it to argue that machines can be conscious, and even hold similar consciousness to humans if organized similarly enough but i think it is applicable here.
Suppose there is a male named steve. One at a time we remove a "male" neuron and replace it with a "female" neuron from Penny, all the while keeping the structure the same. If gender is non-physiological or at least not based on the functional structure of the brain, this should still be possible. We can source the neuron from any self-identifying female. At 100% replacement, he will feel just like a female. At some point in the replacement, steve will no longer have male qualia but female qualia, lets say at x% replacement. Now, take a single neuron and switch it between male and female neurons. Steve should then feel in rapid succession having female and male qualia. However, we kept the functional structure the same throughout, meaning steve cannot act any differently or notice anyting else. He will have dancing qualia that he cannot recognize which seems absurd. The only out is cartesian dualism which is at the very least, non-scientific, worst, physically impossible.

It's an interesting inference but I think the experiment fails, someone with a half male and half female neural system isn't going to have the qualia of a male or a female but rather be in some deeply dysfunctional chimeric state. Chalmer's experiment is much more neatly tailored to address the belief in a hard binary between consciousness and non-consciousness where a transitionary state would just collapse into non-conciousness, in a system with two different conscious qualia it doesn't work as well because we can absolutely propose an artifical middle state.

kind of but it's more like Chalmer's experiment uses that binary in order to postulate a "flicker" that just wouldn't exist in the system you're proposing because there isn't an expectation of the system having no intermediary states(viable or unviable). I'd push back on the color analogy because colors are a genuine spectrum. I'd instead describe it as two banks of a raging river, On either bank you are stable and viable, in between you are not and can't really said to be on either bank. You wouldn't expect the qualia in the middle of the river to change drastically in regards to the state on either bank, it instead has a qualia all its own.
