β€œThrough the clue provided by Tyler, the police rapidly figured out the whole plan and arrested all criminals, successfully preventing the bomb from exploding. After the trial, Tyler was sent to lunatic asylum receiving psychological treatment. He was discharged from the hospital in 2012.”

Lol highly copius ending.

What’s weird about this in Tyler never targeted and Chinese companies or properties and this movie is so obviously set in the USA. Wouldnt it make more sense to celebrate the ending by saying, β€œstupid USA police were fooled and allowed and anarchist to destroy their society. This would never happen in China”.

I mean they’re not doing their own propaganda right at this point.

On the one hand yeah it does help support the narrative that the U.S. is "chaotic" and "disorderly"--a theme which is persistent in Chinese propaganda. Recently though, the Party is treating all figures of power as stand-ins for the Chinese government, so the notion that some small group of terrorists could collapse the entire credit system is too dangerous of an idea to entertain. It undermines government power and authority and might inspire people to do naughty things at a time when household debt is surging in the country.

If you ever saw the Chinese movie "Raise the Red Lantern" you might know that it was also censored because the film's murderous patriarch was perceived as a stand-in for the Chinese Communist Party.

It inspires the idea that individuals can cause great change in spite of authority and they can't have that.

The mouth gunshot was more of a symbolic thing. In the book he actually shoots himself in the brain, IIRC.

Side note, dont read the sequel.
