While Nehru's India has become one where, according to media reports, almost half the MPs in the Lok Sabha have criminal charges pending against them, including charges of r*pe and murder. Though it is also said that many of these allegations are politically motivated.

tldr: sg prime minister wants the leader of opposition to be charged for perjury during a committee hearing. he pointed out that some MPs in india have criminal charges as an warning for sg and that we must uphold moral standards in sg parliament.

obviously the comment pointing out that some MPs in india are criminal to score political points was not taken well by the indian govt.
