They are all on record saying that they want to kill the oil industry and being true to their word in their actions. You're sanewashing them by presuming that they meant a carefully controlled winding down, they did not, they existed in an echo chamber where it simply didn't occur to anyone that decreasing oil production will result in a rising gasoline price which would be pretty unpopular. They expected to slay the evil dragon, solve the global warming, get their applause, the end.
By carrying water for those morons you end up trying to defend an indefensible position, that yeah, they said that they're going to frick with oil, and did all those things, but since they backtracked on some of them when the shit actually hit the fan then, uh, the real culprit was the free market that suddenly stopped equilibrating supply with demand because investors ceased to care about profits for some mysterious reason.

I call it "performative common sense."
That is, a very surface level understanding of something is used to ridicule a left-wing position that is more nuanced and in depth.
Example: aoc talking about methane emissions in farming becoming "cow farts."
This comes from conservatism leaning heavily on the fact conservative talking points sound a lot more appealing to the uneducated than liberal ones do.
Cons can exploit this and pass off non-solutions as solutions to very real problems while also making liberal solutions (which are much better most of the time) seem absurd.
This can be masked with noble appeals to "human freedom."
Take healthcare reform where cons suggest health savings accounts and "cross state insurance sales" as a way to fix healthcare. That sounds much more appealing to stupid people than a "government run healthcare system and death panels."
Like anyone with a basic understanding of how American insurance works knows this is a non-solution, but to the middle class r-slur it's a very simple sounding solution that avoids "radical change."
When you get down to it pretty much every conservative solution is this bad - they sound appealing when you don't understand the issue, and incoherent when you do.
