Breaking News: Harvard will spend $100 million to study and redress its ties to slavery, joining other universities confronting their complicity with slavery. https://t.co/C1Tgeht54m

Any kidding aside. Dedicating actual measuarable money to this instead of shadowy invisible "diversity" quotas is probably a good thing.
Rightoid hug boxes miss the point entirely as well: https://old.reddit.com/r/Conservative/comments/uci6gg/harvard_sets_up_100_million_endowment_fund_for/?sort=controversial

It's all woke rich kids
Woke: giving gibs to nogs is good
Rich: daddy's money is paying for my tuition, that wing of the library named after him, my BMW, etc. so why would I care lel
Tbf there are a few poor kids but they typically get full rides if they're poor enough. And they're either woke or smart enough to not speak up about being normal.

that's fair, but there's a good portion of boomer parents in the rich category who have enough sense to care. Most of them just have been beaten into submission

All this is telling me is that Harvard has way too much money.
My so-called "top" university wishes they had these kinda funds.

Private universities are mammoths. Columbia for example is the single largest property owner in NYC. They have huge amounts of wealth not just from their fame but also from their pedigree, getting in on huge investments centuries ago which just are allowed compound growth.
Anyways its just rich kids doing rich kid stuff that they probably want to support anyways

Or fricking neither lol?
"Well, I guess chopping off my fingers is better than chopping off the whole hand, if you really stop and think about it, so it's probably a good thing."
I don't care since it's not my money. But if I was an alumni I wouldn't be giving shit after this
