My best friend's colleague (yeah this is a friend-of-a-friend story, so take it with a grain of salt, though I do trust the source) is caring for a son-c*m-daughter who is trans, depressed, psychotic, and generally completely barking mad.
Despite rampant mental illness, s/he was approved for the surgery which didn't go well, and drove him even deeper into depression and delusion.
Now, he wants to undergo euthanasia (which is legal in his country), which his parents say they won't condone until he gets the money to pay for it himself.
Fricking Europeans, man...

I'm on the other side of the world from him at the moment but he is based in Belgium.
If the procedure happens, it won't be unprecedented. A few years back a
(FtM this time) died via euthanasia following botched gender change surgery.
