I thought canaries are useless since the legalese roughly says to not communicate at all it's been received. The state can frick you up, even if "technically illegal", :marseyairquotes: oooh as if they care. It may be as useless as having a desktop background that says "If you're a scammer using remote desktop, leave me alone" and expect them to honor that (except that if if you tell others about the scammers the scammers come visit with guns).

In my opinion, removing a static message (like rdramas) stating you have not received any warrants would violate US law and prosecution could be constitutionally upheld, although unlikely.

However, publishing a new, unique message every so often, say every time Carp posts at the bottom, would be more viable. The US has strong compelled speech protections and forcing the publication of a new, unique message would probably be disallowed.

If you had a video recording of a guy saying no warrants and you made a new one weekly, the FBI couldn't legally force the same actor to make a new video imo.

I don't disagree (I might completely agree), but the practical side is "you comply (or else)". "Do you have the resources to go to the constitution?" Even with the compelled speech protections I think that the "government request" is an overwhelming power move, without technical outs.
