1.9 percent of people in the US make the federal minimum wage.

So now show me what the bottom 1.9% of apartments are.

The cheapest place I can find by me is $925 for a 2 bedroom in a literal ghetto. Like murder rate of 100/100k shithole. With a roommate, which you will want if only to have an extra gun around to help defend yourself during the inevitable home invasion, that's $475/month. 40% of pre tax on rent is high, but not unmanageable.

But also everywhere I look businesses are advertising $15/hr starting. And I see plenty of 2 bedrooms for $1400-$1800 in murder free shithole areas, which would come out to 30-40%, which like I said is wholly manageable.

They always cite the minimum wage but about any mcjob is offering like $17 an hour to anyone with a pulse right now.

Don't burger places in burger land pay at least 15 bucks an hour. Why do they care what the fed minimum wage is when seemingly everywhere pays at least double

They pay double to normal people. When you wear podcast merch to the job, the most they can offer is minimum wage.

Donโ€™t forget taxes! $1,256 is the gross amount of wages. On minimum wage, theyโ€™re taking home less than $1k per month.

yet they think paying even more taxes will solve their problems somehow

Itโ€™s called your bootstraps. You either pull them up or tie them. I canโ€™t remember.

You don't tie bootstraps lol

I mean sure antiworkers are dumb but wages are stagnant in the USA though

and inflation is only making it worse

wages are stagnant

I could've sworn every basic b-word job shot from $8 starting to $14 in the past three years, with quad-digit signing bonuses

well yeah if you're starting to think about it since like 2018 they aren't that stagnant, but that pressure has been around for a while and only recently saw movement. Wages in those kinds of jobs (near minimum wage) have actually declined compared to national inflation rates since the late 70s. Middle class jobs are only barely keeping up with inflation.

In Wisconsin, I was making $14.50/hr and able to afford a mortgage and three-year-old car, without resorting to roomm*tes.

Why can't i do the same in California on the same pay?
