I got permabanned from /r/politics for saying "how I sleep at night knowing I value my possessions more than your life 😴" for threatening violence. Watching redditors defend a criminal's human right to steal without consequences will always be funny.

Redditors own nothing of real value, and contribute nothing to the world and live in low crime suburbs; so they could never understand what it is like to have something stolen from you.

The three 18-packs of Natural Light beer that Rennie Defoe Jr. allegedly stole cost $36 and cost him his life.

Defoe, 43, of Plant City, was shot and killed by the co-owner of a Lakeland convenience after grabbing the beer, walking past the counter and saying, “If you follow me, I’ll kill you,” according to a Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrest report

At the time of the incident — just before midnight July 17 — convenience store co-owner Mehedeun Hasan, 22, was behind the counter with his father, Q.M. Monsure Rahman, 61, who also owns the store.

Surveillance video released by the sheriff’s office shows the shooting unfold after Defoe leaves the convenience store followed by Rahman and by Hasan, who had grabbed a Beretta 9mm handgun from the store’s office.

Defoe is seen tossing the beer onto the front seat of a white sedan, closing the door and backing up as Hasan approaches the driver’s side front window with his left arm extended — holding the handgun.

The bullet that mortally wounded Defoe first hit his left arm before going into his chest, the arrest report said. He died in the hospital on Saturday, four days after the shooting.

Hasan, who was initially charged with attempted second-degree murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle, is now facing an additional charge of second-degree murder with a weapon.

He told investigators that when Defoe got into the car he pointed the gun at the tinted car window and saw Defoe’s hand near the center console. “He feared [Defoe] was reaching for a weapon,” the arrest report said.

Hasan is being held at Polk County’s jail without bond

Hasan allegedly told Defoe: "Money, money, money," to inform the customer that he had forgotten to pay for the drinks.

As Defoe peels off in reverse, Hasan is seen squeezing the trigger of his gun and getting off one shot. Hasan kept trailing the Camry on foot and told authorities that he was trying to "get the tag number" when the gun in his hand "accidentally went off" again, according to the report. One of the fired bullets struck Defoe in the left arm and pierced his heart.

They just got the bleeding to stop this morning," Defoe's sister-in-law, who asked to remain anonymous, told Newsweek of Defoe's upgraded prognosis. "They spent most of the time in surgery yesterday trying to find the bullet."

She said Defoe may have been wrong in attempting to make off with the liquor, but shouldn't have to die because of it.

"Nobody deserves to be gunned down for beer," she said.

What's more, Defoe had more than enough money to pay for it.

"Nobody understands why he did what he did," the relative said. "He didn't need to. He has a job."

Despite being released from his fourth stint in a Florida State Prison on June 12, and having a long rap sheet, filled with a dozen prior felonies, including robbery, firing a missile into a dwelling, domestic battery and drug charges, the relative said Defoe "is a good father who takes care of his kids when he gets off work every day," she said.

"He doesn't make good personal decisions," she added. "But he's really a half-decent guy."

She said that Defoe, a recently released felon from Plant City, Florida, was on his way to work after feuding with his girlfriend.

"I know him and his girlfriend were arguing that night," she said.

Magistrates don’t seem to have a problem bonding out people for whatever the frick else.

I agree that you should just randomly pop someone if you think they’ve stolen from you, but why would the dude not just give the shit back if he saw homeboy about to do the needful?

Anyway, I don’t see the point in sheltered chronically-disabled Plebbitors sneeding about it. A couple of little things that happened to me since I put sodomy behind me. Dogs stopped barking at me. Friends say it’s because I don’t smell like blacks any more. But also—and I can’t fully explain this—I started to care about spoilers. I once posted HAN SOLO DIES on Twitter and lost 2,500 followers and reveled in it. But I’d be furious now to read that, and wouldn’t inflict it on others (Star Wars cringe aside), because my viewing and reading habits are changing. I used to watch and read for color, texture, pattern, theme, atmosphere and didn’t care what happened to the people in the story. So I liked Wilde and Rothko and TV sci fi. But now I find myself caring how the plot resolves itself. I want to know how it ends. I enjoy art for more than just the surface textures and historical contexts and political dimensions. Things matter, and what happens to people and to things matters to me.

I think I would say my focus has shifted to the story because I have stopped running from the ultimate story—our universal origin story. The story of the eternal mysteries of the universe. And I care about what happens to people in stories because, for the first time ever, I finally care what happens to me.
