I've been meaning to print a bunch of "In this house we believe in race science" signs to replace all the "in this house we believe in science" signs in my neighborhood.

There's already plenty of unironic gigadrama like this everywhere between old neighborhood BIPOCs appropriating social justice jargon to stop the newly arrived white "Hate Has No Home Here" bug people from taking away their hard earned Sunday church service double-parking reparations.

Entirely separate paths is the best way to do bike infrastructure. Make it usable for walking and biking and everyone wins.

Not to sound like a basic Redditor but they’re really well done in Montréal, most run parallel to busy avenues and go pretty far. Also there’s an actual separation between bikes and cars and not just a painted line.

Regular painted-on lanes are fine, but I hate the "protected" lanes they sometimes put in. I think most actual regular cyclists hate them. It's very difficult to impossible to pass some fatty going 10mph and they never get properly plowed or swept. Plus they're dangerous as frick at all intersections because you're sorta out of line-of-sight of drivers.

I'm with you here, riding in the road is actually better. You have far more room to maneuver if needed and every car driver sees you because you're more or less right in front of them. I've honestly never had trouble merging into traffic on my bike, although people around here in Chicago are probably just used to cyclists, maybe in other parts of bumfrick nowhere that's not the case. I think the people complaining about them are just anxious twinks who suck at riding.

Entirely separate lanes are better, but they're really expensive because you can't reuse right-of-way from roads.
