The whole Dave Chapelle debacle

Netflix is transphobic in some people's eyes because they won't take down a comedy special that made a bunch of jokes about trans people?

It's a bit more complicated than that. First of all, the comedian has a history of being like that, saying stuff like "the black community needs to take care of their own" which implies (in the context it was said) that he doesn't believe in black people being allies and erases the existence of black trans people. He has also said on many occasions that he doesn't believe trans people face any societal oppression for being who they are. He hides behind his transphobia by saying he has a trans friend, but refers to her with masculine pronouns. "The Closer", the Netflix special that caused the whole controversy, was filled to the brim with offensive "jokes" that was basically high school humor of "haha I identify as an attack helicopter" and things of that sort.
