Not sure if you are familiar with recruiters, but they are snakes but necessary snakes in IT. When you work with them, they don't want you to interview around and only want you to work with their jobs. I told him upfront that I had 3 interviews one week including his. I went to his interview first. It was for an airline and I didn't like the drive, plus I don't think the interviewer and I vibed at all. I wanted to keep the job in my back pocket but had 2 more interviews to go on. He asked me to do the background check (you gotta go through an FBI background check to work for airlines), so I said I would but told him I'm not really 100% sure if I want the job and would let him know in 1 week.

The background check came through fine, because I am a v v v good girl so he wanted me to start 'temporarily" because this means he would get his commission. But here is the snake oil part -- I don't think I was actually hired. No way that dude was interested in me, so he wanted me to show up so that he could convince the client to try me out for the paycheck. It's the same tactic they use to get you to work earlier. They tell you that the client wants you to start right away, and you show up and they convince the client to let you do something so they can get paid more/faster. I've never fallen for any of this because it's impossible to bully me into working cuz I don't wanna work anyway, but they've all tried it on me.
