Because the picture alone means nothing to anyone who isn't familiar with a specific incident that nobody talks about on the regular basis on the site. Drama lore that makes sense to include is stuff that you'll definitely pick up just by lurking for a week or two. Having stuff in the sidebar that incomprehensible to a large portion of current userbase and everyone who'll join in the future - doesn't make sense to me.
I could be wrong, but I honestly tried to be pretty conservative with my removals. One of the other images that carp used as an example there was literally a fricking jannycord meme kind of involving me (the small bird talking about moped and Ferrari is referring to an analogy I made up in some argument). I love that jannycord meme, it's amazing, I repost it all the time and about 2 dozen people that get the reference - enjoy it every time. But why the frick would it need to be on the site?..
