The bottom line is the GOP losing texas would put them in a coffin. They'd even less favored in national elections than they already are.

What's actually happening here is ethnic minority groups are falling into the same geographical polarization whites did years ago.

The vote trends in these states are still tilted towards dems as urban growth is more relevant than rural polarization.

I've lived in Texas for most of my life. I don't remember genuine secession advocacy ever bring more than a fringe opinion. I seem to remember the polls being around 10% a decade ago, but that was a different time. I suppose I could see a lot of Texans choosing it in this climate as a "frick you".

Yet another example of leftists having dreams about crushing their ‘opponents’ without knowing the first thing about the military (or war, guns, or police, or anything really). Please tell me how and why you would expect the United States to declare war after this theoretical secession? A considerable chunk of the military and leaders are Texans, and plenty of the rest would hold sympathies to the Texan cause. The most the US would do is cut of trade and attempt to make secession financially impossible, which is a far cry from ‘violent’.
