But I ask as someone who has never been religious and hasn’t studied religion, doesn’t the bible literally say that if you are gay then you should be put to death? Leviticus 20:13?

The answer is: It's complicated.

The real answer is: We just ignore the inconvenient parts

Sorry to srs post, but not quite.

Leviticus is in the Old Testament and is considered part of the old covenant (covenant here meaning the rules that govern proper human behavior and how to relate to the Big Boss, God). Christians are believers in the new covenant from the New Testament focused on our boy JC, which dispenses with the old covenant except for specific portions re-affirmed by Jesus and/or a few of his homies.

The New Testament still contains several passages that deny the acceptability of gay relationships, but the death penalty aspect is off the table. Furthermore, the emphasis of the covenant between humans and God switches from one of legalistic judgment to a relationship of love, grace, and forgiveness in which bussy pounding and other associated behaviors can be forgiven.

With penitence christ's endless forgiveness is gated by acknowledgement of conscious sins, and a sincere desire to do better. :!marseyandjesus:

As long as you're trying to avoid the bussy and just can't stop yourself from giving into it's temptation you're ok

Im pretty sure the entire point of the new testament is that "the old shit sucked, jesus handed out some new rules, don't worry about everything before that's just a history lesson"

I never did much bible study but that's what i always took away from it anyways

Christcucks have been ignoring or purposefully mistranslating parts of the Bible for centuries. Ignoring a line in Leviticus just tells me they’re serious about their faith.

how is Leviticus 20:13 an inconvenient part for them?!

"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them."

I'd say the death penalty for being gay is pretty inconvenient.
