I have an indian subcontractor and I'm working on a contract with an indian consulting firm that are more like partners (I guess). You can have all the good intentions you want about being nice to them, but when they are constantly dropping deadlines and then trying to act like it's your fault (even though the very obvious cause is their insanely low level of technical competence) you are eventually going to find out exactly how mean you can get away with being to another person in a professional environment.

I have a graphic designer that I create invoices for and he charges $50/hr. That would be such an easy thing to outsource for cheap and still make money on. The quality of the work he does isn't really top notch shit anyway, so he could probably get away with it. It's pretty amazing what some people will pay for average graphic design you could probably learn to do yourself in a week
