The problem with technocracy is that the experts interpret everything through what is optimal for their discipline. So what gets emphasized is the wishes of whichever expert is in the highest position of power.
If environmental experts have more influence than industrial experts, they're willing to take a significant economic hit if it means success for their narrow concerns.
Experts are best left to advising, not given actual power like we have done with the CDC, FDA, EPA, etc.

oh for real. I think technocracy has its place (but the best also need to be on top and not the most r-slurred like Von Der Leyen in EU) but it must be balanced by politicians who get the agenda from the people.
Most "technocrats" are complete buffoons, Hillary thought she deserves that job just by... yeah just by what?
I think the power should come from the unions, which decide who the best professionals are by vote or standartized testing. But again, every profession will think of itself as most important and none should ever be the most important one - theres no programming without crops but no crops without engineers.

Was Reddit always this r-slurred? I remember thinking that its users were smart like 10 years ago but now when I look at it all I see is a sea of drooling r-slurs.

Back in 2012 or so, there was better discussion and not everything was infused with politics and current thing sneeding. I think Reddit was used mostly by tech and STEMcels back then, and I liked the potential to have actual discussions about specific topics. You can still find some good discussions on hobby and niche subs, but as more normies (and just plain idiots from sites like Tumblr) have migrated to Reddit, the site quality has degraded. I suspect the average user age has gone down and there's definitely more NEETs/non-Americans/other r-slurs lol.
But even older Reddit had its problems now that I think about it. Straggy Reddit lingo like "the 'ol Reddit switcheroo" and "taking this comment to the top!!!" was pretty (More?) common then. You're probably right, as I have grown older I have little patience for that dumb shit
