Seriously though, there was a pretty sudden and drastic increase in subs in the last 6-12 months that threatened the character of the sub. It was associated with subs like MDE getting banned and their refugees trying to take over here. 100k was chosen as an arbitrary limit to this.

So it's even dumber than I thought. It certainly has grown in the last year or so. I think there was like 37K when I first started going there. I can't really attest to much character change since I don't pay that much attention. I default sort by new, crack a joke or two and then fuck off. If I have a bunch of (yous) the next time I log in I generally just mark all as read and don't even look at them.

Well I guess I hope it works just so I can quit seeing people bitch about fugeefags. I doubt it will though. It's just going to make people use alts. As annoying as it was, at least with the "you have to go back" bot they were easily identified. With a bunch of fresh alts you won't be able to tell who was a fugee and who was an innocent centrist that got auto-yeeted.
