It is because they are failures. Art does not judge. Art is subjective. They can spend their whole day doing useless shit and still feeling smug about it because they are creative. They think in the stone age, they could draw a lion on a wall and all the tribe members would celebrate him for being such an accomplished part of the tribe.
It is actually quite cringey if you really think about it: Put some of these people in a forest. Let's assume they have all the tools to hunt and build a shelter, and for fucks sake let's assume they succeed with all of this and actually are able to survive. So now they are in the forest and finally they can start with creating art together. "Ohh, I put some sticks in a circle. It kinda looks like the sun." - "Nice! I carved a stick figure on this tree!" - "Okay. And what next? This creating are stuff kinda gets boring really quick."
