I have spent the last 2 months combing over hundreds of thousands of DeuxRAMA posts. I found a terrifying trend, one that will lead to this subreddit’s death.

Downvotes.

In the average thread in this sub, 12% of comments have a negative scores. That’s over thrice the Reddit average. Even worse, most of the people getting downvoted are clearly mentally disabled people who don’t understand satire. These people could be amazing lolcows, but instead we chase them away with downvotes. If we keep downvoting, r/DeuxRAMA might no longer be a safe space for autists and retards.

To remedy this, I propose that the moderators edit the subreddit’s style sheet and remove the downvote button. This will prevent lolcow abuse, and hopefully save the subreddit from itself.

don't downvote has been an unofficial rule for a long time and featured in our sidebar, but editing the stylesheet won't do much

according to last months pageview traffic: 64.4% on reddit apps, 9.5% mobile web, 10.8% new reddit. So 84.4% of views coming in will be unaffected by CSS and a good number of old.reddit users disable subreddit CSS - especially if you start fucking with what they can see (like being able to downvote)
