The only part of the video that Ethan says he is unsure about is the monetizing aspect because he discovered that the band of the song in said video claimed the rights to it. It's still likely that the band never got ads running on the video because it had the n-word in the title. Also, the view count being the same for all three screenshots remains fishy. Someone in the comments also pointed out that the thumbnail to skip the ad and continue to the video did not match the video Jack Nicas posted.

Nah, the viewcount staying the same makes sense if the reporter was hitting refresh quickly to get served new ads until ones from major brands showed up. You can test it for yourself and see that the viewcount does not go up if you just spam F5.

How can one explain the measly $12 made on the video? If it isnt photoshopped, I don't know how he could find ads so recently with the quick demonetizing.

A claim does not demonetize a video and remove advertisements. The advertisements persist, but the ad revenue goes to the copyright holder. The uploader of a claimed video gets nothing.

Besides, Youtube CPM is highly variable and makes no sense except to the few who are privy to Youtube algorithms.
