When we got to the sociological reasons I pulled up a picture of a friend (who agreed to let me use his pictures). The first was a headshot from his MyAnimeList profile. I told them he was a professional NEET who competed in high school dating sims all over the world. All the girls started started making comments on how he was probably overweight and smelled of Cheetos. They said there was no way they'd ever date a NEET, because NEETs are losers who live in their mom's basement. The boys though they commented on his model collecting skills and how impressed they were with his Watched/Dropped ratio (he's one of the top anime YouTube Reviews in North America).
I pointed this out and the girls just shrugged. Then I pulled the rug from under them. My solution to this is to emphasize health. Teach the students about the importance of good diet, exercise, sleep, and avoiding smoking and other bad habits based on their health effects. As for aesthetics, that can be refocused from makeup to the importance of good hygiene.

Yeah, in most situations as a dude I'd be too dense to pick up on "makeup hypocrisy," but this felt really goddamn blatant and obvious.
Outside of red pill fags and incel fags, most men aren't picky about the fine points of a woman's grooming. I went out with a girl who made some comment along the lines of "oh, sorry my nails look like shit!" and I laughed it off to be nice, but I was thinking, "unless they were all blackened and broken from you working in a mine for twelve hours, I would not have noticed."
However, from having a sister, I know that girls can be just insanely harsh about that shit. My sister is a cool chick and I've never heard her pick apart a woman's appearance, but there were actually some SJW-ish chicks in a college group she was in and I know that they apparently were mocking her appearance on Facebook or something... I don't follow girl drama too closely, but I know it was something that was antithetical to their supposed feminist views.
My guess would be that chicks who preach "patriarchy" might actually be the most petty about this junk, whereas chicks who are well-adjusted aren't. Similar to how MRA and incel creeps will say, "oh, I wouldn't bang that Victoria's Secret model because she has weird elbows." People who push these extreme agendas tend to be the most petty and maladjusted, I guess is what I'm trying to say.

So I teach high school psychology and we are going over toxic femininity, involuntary celibacy, and autism.
I started off the lesson with the usual here's the definition, this is how it can be caused. When we got to the sociological reasons I pulled up a picture of a friend (who agreed to let me use his pictures). The first was a headshot from his Tinder dating profile. I told them he was a professional gamer who competed in high profile gaming tournaments all over the world. All the girls started started making comments on how he was probably overweight and smelled of Cheetos. They said there was no way they'd ever date a gamer, because gamers are losers who live in their mom's basement. The boys though they commented on his gamer skills and how impressed they were with his K/D ratio (he's one of the top CS:GO players in North America).
I pointed this out and the girls just shrugged. Then I pulled the rug from under them. I showed them a picture of him shirtless, his ripped abs oiled and glistening in the sun (when he's not playing CS:GO he's pumping iron down at the local gym). Within seconds the girls (and some boys) are screaming "Daddy!" Or "I want to sit on his face!" But then you had most of the boys going "he's still a high T alpha but let's not forget about his fast gaming reflexes."
This is where I paused and asked them to quiet down and followed up with this a speech I prepared for them...
"Most of you made comments about how he looks like just another pathetic gamer in first picture, then all of a sudden wanted to inhale his dick when you saw the second picture. Do you realize you just made almost every boy in this room question himself without realizing it? Are gamers ugly and pathetic when they don't have toned pecs? No, ALL gamers deserve respect, ALL gamers are beautiful, you dumb sluts. So what you are saying is even if you're the top gamer in the world you're not worthy and should die a virgin, but if you do one of the "cool" or "hip" hobbies like extreme scootering or yo-yo then you should get all the sex. Yet, you girls don't have to do a single thing and we have to accept you that way. You expect boys to look like the second picture naturally when they'd rather be reaching platinum rank in Overwatch than exercising. You joke about gamers all being nerd virgins but what you're saying is if you aren't a Chad then you are worthless and not worth my time. You've pushed aside intelligence, gamer skill, consoles owned, and so much more for a body that will in time age and be "unworthy" again. You all say "society standards" but realize you are society. Your actions, reactions, words and likes are going to be represented in the media. You say you don't want a gamer boy yet what do any of you fatties have to offer? You think anyone really wants to be with you? Ha! You say "but what about gamergate? aren't all gamer boys internet and harassers and misogynists." Well, you'd be a misogynist too if you were constantly marginalized and refused sex just because of your hobby. Realize today you are the problem and the solution. It's up to you to start making those changes (i.e., let the gamer boys put their penises in your vaginas) so those younger than you won't have to feel like they need to bulk, lift, quit their hobby, and hate themselves to feel like a Chad."
The students all stood up an applauded. By the end of the day I was getting emails from students thanking me for talking about it and told me their experiences and how they want to fight the good fight.
I'm so proud of them.
