No one would give a shit about the gender and race of the cast if the show was actually good. It's not.
The fact that they seem to have gone down the SJW rabbit hole is the least of the show's problems. It's just bad. Nothing more than a cash cow meant to get people to sign up for CBS' streaming service. If the show were actually good it would be the cornerstone of the network's broadcast line-up. The fact that it's not should tell you all you need to know.
I pirated the second one last night (cause fuck CBS all access. I have Hulu). It's gonna be an interesting arc even though the opener was super heavy handed about "OMG WE'RE WOMEN SCIENTISTS HERE TO DISCOVER!!"
There's just no chance. The things they accept as normal are things you can tell college age kids are being told is normal before they go out in the world and realize is retarded.
I actually do agree that the cast should be more diverse (the main character is one of the few non-white people on the ship, because Michelle Yeoh apparently dies in episode 2) but Star Trek Discovery is pretty bad tbh, it feels like a fan made series and almost everything about it goes against the spirit of trek
