Oh, that complicates matters, because then you'll have to expend a nontrivial amount of effort to make sure that neither bullies the other. In my experience, the right way to go is to, like, assign some place, like maybe an entire room, to the new cat, and make sure that both cats understand that this place now belongs to the new cat. Like, keep it locked there for a day or so, let it get familiar with it, then take its side against the incumbent cat if it tries to invade, and vice versa.

Then, when both cats know who's the boss of what area, they will fill comfortable defending their own if something upsets them and the other cat will know to retreat in that case.

Afterwards they will hopefully befriend each other and forget about that stuff, but it's important in the beginning because if you don't do that and there's any friction, one of the cats will become really stressed.
