I got banned from r/boxoffice for actually making an accurate prediction.

https://www.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/comments/7c3efv/other_so_the_people_who_predicted_that_thor_would
Since most people there were comicbook fanboys who never learn from previous mistakes, everyone kept making ridiculous predictions like 150 million opening weekend and a billion at the box office.
When I said the movie will be shit as usual and will only open for less than 125 million dollars. For that I got called a troll, laughed at, insulted, and then banned.
Well looks like I was right(well it was actually slightly worse than my prediction)

Edit: The text from my post since it was removed.
JL from the looks of it is getting lukewarm reviews and it's hype is less than BvS.It doesn't have the novelty of being the first superhero team up nor the first joint appearance of the trinity. So probably a sub 125 million opening with the usual Snyder drops.(65% to 70%).

Thor is the worst branch of the MCU movies and yet it outperforms DC's ensemble film, lol.
1 JumbledFun 2017-11-16
Taika really brought it back with 3 though, was a super fun movie.
1 UpvoteIfYouDare 2017-11-16
Haven't seen it. I thought the other two were boring as fuck.

"Hunt for the Wilderpeople" (or whatever it's called) was seriously my favorite movie of last year.
Fuck, did I just seriouspost. Sorry.
1 a_normal_human 2017-11-16
It disposes of all the boring, pointless shit from the first two, and just goes nuts. Natalie Portman Naked and Petrified or that dumb scientist guy are nowhere to be seen.
1 MexicoLost7-0 2017-11-16
Gotta say, haven't heard that since like, 2000 or so.

1 Deeeber 2017-11-16
All he does is point the camera. Marvel directors do whatever Disney tells them to do and are basically talking tripods. It's not like they have any major creative control. No writing credits at all.
And it's still better than the shit DC puts out.
1 JumbledFun 2017-11-16
have you seen the other taika waititi movies? His personality was definitely all over thor 3
1 ThrowAwayRegret16 2017-11-16
In the humor department yes. The story and visuals less so.
However the above user is right. I think so far Taika and maybe James gunn are small exceptions.
1 Deeeber 2017-11-16
Maybe they let him get a joke or two into the script. Maybe.
But Disney has a multi-billion dollar fast food formula on their hands, they aren't going to hand it over to each Trendy Name Director they lure with a gigantic paycheck, that would be stupid.
"Shut up and point the camera" is how it goes there.
1 JumbledFun 2017-11-16
I mean I definitely get your point but I think there is definitely the directors fingers on the tone and development of the film. For sure the main plot points are given to them, but the directors definitely add unique character and personality to the films. GOTG is very different from the other films. Ant-man had some definite Yes man vibes with it's weird humor
1 Imgur_Lurker 2017-11-16
Oh shit the guy who did What we do in the shadows made Thor3? I may actually watch it then.
1 HodorTheDoorHolder 2017-11-16
This is how most studios do their filmmaking. New directors would love to work for Marvel Studios.
1 Deeeber 2017-11-16
They are damn near objectively complete and utter garbage, Christopher Nolan pastiche art taken to the bleakest possible extreme. Low-risk auteurs like Gunn and Waititi get lured in by money, the ones who want to maintain what they see as artistic dignity like Wright and DuVernay get the fuck out once they realize they are paid hacks.
1 Singulaire 2017-11-16
Yeah, it just accepts that comics are fucking wacky and doesn't bother trying to be "mature".

Well, the first two movies were utter garbage. The space comedy version however was basically cribbed from Guardians of the Galaxy and I admit, it was funny.
1 grungebot5000 2017-11-16
i mean you saw the ads for this one though right? actually looked watchable
1 ricardogce 2017-11-16

which is weird, because it’s a Thor movie
1 Burnnoticelover 2017-11-16
At least DC doesn’t release countless remixes of the same movie all year round.
1 Honk4Tits 2017-11-16
Who cares super hero movies are for children, aspies, and those who like to play make believe. Everyone of them including Deadpool (this generation's Pulp Fiction) is all total shit. Super heroes are fags and whatever garbage they put out you slaves of corporate assfuckery will lap it up. It doesn't have to be good if it says Disney, Marvel, DC doesn't matter you guys will gape your buddy waiting to accept the mediocrity. B-but it's got 90% on Rotten Tomatoes so it's a good movie. No, your standards are too low to know the difference.
1 ThrowAwayRegret16 2017-11-16
That's not sub dedicated for superhero movies but box office discussion regardless of the genre of the film.
I am not exactly a big fan of them myself. The last MCU film I like was the first guardians. This year I only saw Logan and skipped other CBMs.
1 Honk4Tits 2017-11-16
In 2017 movies are superhero movies, remakes, and sequels. This is the worse year for movies since last year and the year before.
1 ThrowAwayRegret16 2017-11-16
Sequels aren't inherently bad. I liked the new Blade Runner movie for example.
I would say 2016 and 2017 are equally bad but that's because I didn't have much to enjoy last year. This year Dunkirk, Blade Runner 2049, Baby Driver, Long lucky, A ghost story and get out are all films that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Still yet to come are Del Toros shape of water and Martin Mcdonagh's three billboards outside ebbing Missouri both of which are getting quite the buzz.
1 Honk4Tits 2017-11-16
Blade Runner 2049 was the only good thing to come out this year.
1 DickingBimbos247 2017-11-16
that's an insult to Pulp Fiction.

I don't understand, what's the point in trying to predict how much money a movie will make when it comes out?
1 ThrowAwayRegret16 2017-11-16
Think of it as a hobby.
1 shallowm 2017-11-16
People got awfully angry at your guess that didn't agree with theirs.
1 ThrowAwayRegret16 2017-11-16
Funny thing is it's actually performing as bad as I said if not lower(it looks like it would be worse than Wonder woman in terms of BO).
We are slowly watching the justice league die and it's hilarious.
1 RarePepeAficionado 2017-11-16
People got tired of the shitty DC movies real fast, because DC doesn't know how to make their shit fun.
1 ThrowAwayRegret16 2017-11-16
Or just competent. Logan and Nolans movies have proved you can make serious Capeshit entertaining.
As long as the movie is paced well(most of the time you'll be wondering when the scene is going to over in Snyder movies), edited in such a way that the story flows smoothly and doesn't feel like bunch of random scenes stitched together.
1 grungebot5000 2017-11-16
remember how before RDJ launched an empire, Marvel was the one who always made shitty tv and movies, and DC was by comparison the master of adaptations?
I miss those days, there were Batman cartoons
1 RarePepeAficionado 2017-11-16
Uh...
1 grungebot5000 2017-11-16
Gotta have a good series going already before Schumacher can ruin it. It had a better run than Raimi’s Spider-Man and that was Marvel’s high bar till recently
also it’s only marginally worse than DKR. like it’s much, much stupider, but somehow offset by the fact that they obviously weren’t trying
1 RarePepeAficionado 2017-11-16
Ah, you're larping as a mentally handicapped individual.
1 grungebot5000 2017-11-16
dkr was garbage lol, there’s a reason why its dialogue occupies the same space in the public psyche as that of the Star Wars prequels.
but at least it was often carefully-made, serious-colored garbage

1 grungebot5000 2017-11-16
like maybe if my expectations going in were for Batman & Robin to be an actual movie, I would have hated it more, but the Jim Carrey one had just come out at that point. Whereas Nolan was supposed to following up the good one

DC pajeet meme was real btw
1 ThrowAwayRegret16 2017-11-16
I am an Indian guy and I can honestly assure Indians ruin fandom they get into. Some of the most toxic Snyder fans I have met have been Indians.
I knew the meme was real since this
1 MakeAmericaSageAgain 2017-11-16
This is painfully true when it comes to any western trend. I watched Premier League with my Pajeet friends when I was in India and every single one of them was a Manchester United dabber.
1 ThenTheGorursArrived 2017-11-16
My batch dabbed during our graduation ceremony, months after dabbing had stopped being cool. Since there were something like 200 people spread out in our school's initials, coordinating it became a real issue. A guy was taking a video with a drone and we took ~1:30 from the first guy starting dabbing to the last one catching up.
I now have no school leaving photos.
1 ThrowAwayRegret16 2017-11-16
The worst thing is that they try to claim moral and intellectual superiority in every goddamn discussion.
Some of them genuinely think they're smart for recognizing the references and Easter eggs in BVS.
1 Unkill_is_dill 2017-11-16
Ehhhh. Just go on Twitter and type "Justice league" in the search box. Most of the triggered fanboys are from the west.
1 glmox 2017-11-16
i really want to know what the life of a guy posting on dc_cinematic from "iraq/syria" is like
1 shallowm 2017-11-16
I know a couple of people living in Iraq, if you're in a safe area, it's fine. Another guy I know doesn't live there, but he visited Kurdistan (technically Iraq?) this summer and it was fine.
1 shallowm 2017-11-16
I know a couple of people living in Iraq, if you're in a government-controlled area, day-to-day life is okay (two of them live in Baghdad though, they said bombings are unfortunately not uncommon). Another guy I know doesn't live there, but he visited Kurdistan (technically Iraq?) this past summer with no problems.
1 Unkill_is_dill 2017-11-16
Man, I knew DC was popular here but had no idea this much popular. Got the link to that thread?
1 Nathan-Pocket 2017-11-16
I can't wait for the capeshit movies to die down, there are so many yet I can list all the good ones on one hand.
1 ThrowAwayRegret16 2017-11-16
Quite honestly you'll have to wait a long time for that. DC is shitting the bed yes but if there's one thing you can learn from r/boxoffice it's the I Hollywood is a bed ridden sick man then capeshit is the ventilator keeping him alive.
They're the ones that are consistently making money for the major studios so far.
At the very least you can expect the MCU to keep shitting out movies and coincidentally they're ye ones choking the genre in terms of creativity.
1 wumbo17412 2017-11-16
implying there are good capeshit movies
1 MasterLawlz 2017-11-16

1 SpotNL 2017-11-16

1 Ravensthrowit 2017-11-16
Mainstream Movies are absolute shit nowadays because they are trying to capture the nostalgia of people which money I.E. People over 40. This trend will not stop, Hollywood has backed themselves into corner because so little good original has been created during the past 15 years that they will have to suck off of these sequels forever, and the only good memories of films we will have are of shitty super hero sequels.
Fuck Hollywood, Goddamn so many movies are garbage nowadays

I love anime. I have to be honest, the Japanese and even other east asian's are some of the world's best story tellers and great actors to. I would say the same for Europeans. American stories and actors are just garbage (few exceptions). I wish I had more time to expand my anime experience but I don't. Do you have any recommendations?

lots of folks shilling for the movie, saying shit like "i was nervous for it to be good" and "it was ok, cgi wasn't great, characters flat, 7/10 go watch it!"
the trailer looked and sounded like ass too - i'm still surprised at how lame aquaman was and how hyped people were for the movie
DC needs to stop trying to force their cinematic universe to happen
