But when it comes to politicians, Democratic ones either support those idiocies or turn the other way and ignore them. Meanwhile, there's a bunch of conservative ones that use them as an example of "dum libruls" and they get some votes because of it. It wouldn't hurt to have at least some contingent of Democrat leaders also scoff at them, to at least get some of those voters that do vote on that dumb criteria.
The problem is that it's dangerous to discount those views, especially when they're coming from positions of the disenfranchisement. So while I agree with your comments just about top to bottom, in order to see some true effectual change that is made to last, there needs to be work done on educating those who use their votes to spite.
I mean politicians of either side barely comment on those types of things. I haven't really witnessed anyone is being called racist on a large enough platform for "not supporting" BLM, but if you go as far as to call protesters animals or something, yea that's going to be an attack point. If your constituency can't trust you to defend the values you claim to hold, their support will waver, and may end up getting you primaried.
It's not worth sacrificing those positions for possible short term benefit, I doubt those voters are even worth it as they lack the strength of conviction to be counted on for long term support. They likely don't influence those around them because they barely believe in anything substantial in the first place.
So ya for a lot of people the vote was emotional and there's no denying it but the right path forward I think is a much slower and painful process
