Matt Damon is continuing to draw ire for his controversial comments about sexual misconduct in Hollywood.

Nearly 17,000 people have signed a petition on the website Care 2 calling for the actor's cameo to be removed from Oceans 8, the upcoming all-female reboot of the Oceans films. Citing Damon's recent assertion that he'd consider working with people accused of sexual misconduct on a "case-by-case" basis—plus the allegations that Damon helped protect Harvey Weinstein—the petition calls on producers George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh "to toss Damon's Oceans 8 cameo where it belongs: on the cutting room floor."

"Damon's inclusion would trivialize the serious nature of the charges against sexual abusers like Weinstein—a show [of] massive disrespect for the brave women speaking out," the petition states. "It would also send a terrible message about the inevitability of—and lack of accountability for—sexual harassment in the workplace that four in ten American women experience."

If you're not up to speed on the current controversy surrounding Damon, the actor said in an interview on ABC News that "there's a difference between, you know, patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation, right?" He suggested that "we can work with" people like Louis C.K. and Al Franken, both of whom have been accused of sexual misconduct.

In an interview with Business Insider, the actor was asked whether he'd still participate in a movie if another person involved had been accused of sexual misconduct.

"That always went into my thinking," Damon said. "I mean, I wouldn't want to work with somebody who — life's too short for that. But the question of if somebody had allegations against them, you know, it would be a case-by-case basis. You go, 'What's the story here?'"

It's worth noting that the Care 2 petition is nothing more than a collection of internet users vocalizing their disapproval of Damon's actions; it isn't indicative of any real action being taken by the Oceans 8 team. If anything, it speaks not to the status of Damon's cameo in the film, but to the widespread anger he's incited with his opinions on accusations of sexual misconduct.

Hollywood's mistake was hiring a janitor at MIT in the first place.

And farming his shit potatoes.

Show some respect. Those shit potatoes fed the entire population of Mars!

Matt Damon? More like Fatt Gaymon.

"That always went into my thinking," Damon said. "I mean, I wouldn't want to work with somebody who — life's too short for that. But the question of if somebody had allegations against them, you know, it would be a case-by-case basis. You go, 'What's the story here?'"

Are people ovaryacting or is this shitty article exaggerating the outrage because that quote is pretty tame.

If you're a celebrity then you should just never talk about politics at all. There's no way to win. Look at Leonardo DiCaprio, the most he ever says is basically just "save the rainforest" and I think he once said he thought Bernie Sanders was a good man. That's it.

The only way to win is not to play.

But if you don't talk politics the media just assumes you're a racist like /ourgal/ Taylor "With Jews You Lose" Swift

"life's too short for that" is a pretty lol way to say you wouldn't work with a rapist. Like Matty's been working with rapists and is just sick of it.

"Another rapist? Why do I even come in to work any more?"

The context is that Damon is best bros with Ben Affleck. And we all know about Affleck being tied to Weinstein.

Isn't it like about to release?

What, no, it's like slated for June of next year.

TIL. why is everyone jabbering on about it then lol

Because the trailer dropped like yesterday and now everyone is trying to start the Ghostbusters 2016 Bus up again to accuse anyone lukewarm on it of soggy knees.

Let's be honest, this movie is going to tank. Have you seen the like to dislike ratios. They made a shitty product now they have mobilized SJW death squads into action. Matt Damon will be the sacrificial lamb for these shiksha's and their jew masters

If they keep remaking every single movie with an all female cast maybe one might not suck someday, maybe...

Or you know higher talented creative people to make a movie with a strong female lead, and not hire someone because your cousin know's them or you owe someone a favour. Fuck this industry it is build on nepotism and hypocrisy.

strong female lead

Lol life isn't anime

I gotta be honest, white women are the lowest. I mean you had fuckin anita sarkeesian and zoe quinn go to the fucking UN because of mean comments. When I see something like ghost in the shell with fat fuck scarlett johanson I just laugh. On the other side of the world you have women standing up to the taliban, forming militias, and fighting for their survival. Not in the shiksha dominated hollywood though.

Don't fuckin talk shit about Scarlett Johansson, you ain't shit

And she can't act for shit

100 times this. SHe is a fucking potato. Dude if I wasn't in school I would give you gold. Will gussy suffice until then?

100%

Shit retards say who only know her from garbage (EDIT: redundant) Marvel movies. I wouldn't try either if I was cast in a fucking Avengers movie.

Marvel movies are cancer. Also noted faggot stan lee did not come up with most of those ideas. i think it was some kirby fellow.

I wouldn't let her clean my shit stained asshole with her tongue.

This is true. Real feminist don't have time to complain, they're busy getting shit done.

They should make a Bridesmaids but with an all-male cast

Now that's something I can get hard for

I love how people freaked out cause he said there's a difference between raping/molesting and smacking someone's butt. Like the pure rage and autism a statement of simple logic now provokes from Twitter these days is nothing short of astonishing.
