Problem with The Citadel was the same problem with a lot of the episodes in season 3. The core of Rick's character in seasons 1 and 2 is that he's one of (if not the) smartest person alive and always one step ahead of everyone and every situation to the point where he finds getting himself out of trouble boring, why would he be content to go live on the Citadel and work in a factory rather than staying on earth/another planet and finding ways to amuse himself.
I think there are many Ricks not joining in, the major part are just content with the Citadel being safe haven from all the dangers of the multiverse. The “simple Rick” bit in the Citadel episode touches on this
Of course, the Citadel is also a critique of cushy society made by successful writers that think that if you really believe in yourself you could be like main Rick. You just have to leave everything and take risks.

considering the large number of key frames necessary for a show like rick and morty (comparable to say, the simpsons) it makes sense that unless they doubled the number of writers (like the simpsons) they'd run into problems. while claymation can be more expensive than low quality (read: japanese) animation, it certainly isn't less expensive when its robot chicken, whose claymation is purposely limited

The best part is that none of them have any experience. Their IMDB pages are Rick & Morty and... some sparse, small credits, if even that. Some had nothing at all.
Hiring literal nobodies who can't write and making a public show of how you hired a bunch of women "because it's [current year]!" is either deliberately baiting for attacks on them so you can White Knight for them or it's willful ignorance of how it's going to look when you hire a ton of women and your show tanks in quality.
My favorite part is that he's the head writer and he's doing nothing to stop it, so either it is deliberate or he's too much of a cuck to tell them they're bad and actually help them improve. Taking one new writer under his wing and mentoring them would have had a bigger impact and not shot his show in the foot in the process.
