The response was basically that it's fine if there's nothing haram in it, but pretty much every anime is haram (just on the account of women not being properly covered according to Islam).

I also came across this fatwa (now deleted) a while ago, where some person says that their 12-year-old son came to them and asked them a "weird question" they couldn't answer, so that's why they're asking the scholars. His question was "Can you marry cartoons in heaven?" The response was basically "Allah can give you pretty much anything, including marriage to waifus. You should tell your kid that the Hoor al-'Eyn are better than waifus, though."
