often on point

Pre-internet nat geo was every kids go-to magazine for seeing boobs

So basically NatGeo normalized non-mayo titties. This is a good thing.

Wow. 1916 is over 100 years ago. I feel old.

TIL that an era where black people were treated as poorly as possible without literally enslaving them (mere decades after after enslaving them for centuries) was full of racists! Who knew?!

Ironic that they should talk about the "noble savage" trope.

"Noble savage" wasn't a word used by people who believed in noble savages (e.g. Rousseau), but by people making fun of those idiots who thought that man is naturally good and it's the capitalist patriarchy that corrupted them.

The idea of a noble savage hasn't gone away, either. It's still outrageously popular in SJW circles. They just don't call them noble savages.

Noble savage

A noble savage is a literary stock character who embodies the concept of the indigene, outsider, wild human, an "other" who has not been "corrupted" by civilization, and therefore symbolizes humanity's innate goodness.

In English, the phrase first appeared in the 17th century in John Dryden's heroic play The Conquest of Granada (1672), wherein it was used in reference to newly created man. "Savage" at that time could mean "wild beast" as well as "wild man". The phrase later became identified with the idealized picture of "nature's gentleman", which was an aspect of 18th-century sentimentalism.

Lol yeah I saw a leftist meme saying that Mexico didn't have to deal with oppression until wypipo arrived. I had to remind the person posting it that the Aztec empire existed, and he was like "Doesn't count. That was just tribal warfare, not conquest."

“race is not a biological construct.”

No, it’s kind of more...biological.

This is as retarded as saying gender is a social construct and men can be women.

Meanwhile it pictured “natives” elsewhere as exotics, famously and frequently unclothed

Liberals: "Nudity is natural and people in the US are way too repressed over the human form."

Also liberals: "HOW DARE THEY DEGRADE BLACK PEOPLE BY SHOWING THEIR TITTAYS!"

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, breasts aren't sexual. Nice try, sweaty.

It's anachronistic thinking. Like getting mad at Washington for owning slaves. That's just what you did back then. Judging historical "sins" by modern ethics is gay and retarded
