I really need some support here, I've been seeing my girlfriend for two years now and we rent a flat together. I've been working very hard and have been saving loads of money and have just bought a small apartment in the nearby town, we have to make a decision on whether she is going to come with me.

She's very similar to me, really fun, beautiful and we play music and go to church together. She's also my worst nightmare. The relationship has slipped into abusive territory with her violent outbursts getting more and more frequent. I play guitar in a few bands and she tells me that at 30 years old I am too old to be doing this and that she is uncomfortable with some of the people who I play music with/come to our gigs. She's managed to control me to the point where I rarely get to go out without her and if I do she will lock me out of our home/have a total meltdown and shout at me for hours. She thinks I have a drinking problem and she can be very aggressive/verbally abusive on the subject (I drink one or two beers some nights after work, probably 3 days out of the week. I get drunk at a gig or watching football around once a fortnight - personally I don't think this makes me an alcoholic)

I'm moving to the nice modern apartment that I have just bought and as we are not getting along very well she's asked if she should come with me or go and rent somewhere else. It's her suggestion that she goes into a house share (with the creepy guy from her yoga studio who she's always going out for drinks with, but that's another story...) and I think it's best we should go our separate ways, but I'm also very nervous that I might be throwing away the love of my life.

I can afford the new apartment by myself but I'll have to live fairly frugally and probably not go on holidays or put much money in my savings. If my GF comes with me then I'll be able to afford the place very comfortably and wont worry about money. Our whole friendship group is a whole gang of couples our age, there are hardly any single people so us being together also works for our social life. I don't want to be a sad, lonely, slightly balding 30 year old single man all alone in my new flat, cooking meals for one and fruitlessly swiping on tinder. I also don't want to be under the thumb of someone who doesn't let me have a beer after work or play guitar in bands she doesn't approve of. I'm also totally done with of all our fights and of sleeping on the sofa when she has an aggressive, violent meltdown (this has been happening about once a fortnight since December). Oh yeah, and she cheated on me over Christmas with some guy she used to go out with and I'm still really pissed off about it, I feel quite embarrassed that I am still in a relationship with someone who fucks other guys. Also she has turned vegan recently and gets up at 5am most mornings to go to the yoga studio so not only do I get woken up by her alarm very early in the morning I also can't ever cook/eat any of the foods that I like because she doesn't eat meat or dairy anymore. She hates the 'deadbeats' who hang around the bands I play in, I hate the selfish hippy tossers who she goes to yoga with. We fight about this constantly.

So please tell me: Am I doing the right thing in going to the new place on my own? I have posted about our problems about 6 months ago and found the answers very helpful, although I didn't have the balls then to end the relationship.
