It's not clear yet. Could be that, but I don't see why they would remove the strike then. Maybe his autistic fanbase was mass reporting for teh lawlz and it got autobanned.
Clips with copyrighted audio get flagged and shut down all the time, just to be reinstated a couple of hours later. If it's just small snippets of copyrighted shit while they talk shit about it, it's not against YouTube's rules and gets put back when it's reviewed. I can't remember what company it was at all now but there was a really hilarious one where they uploaded a video about their game or some shit and it got auto flagged and shutdown because part of the video was clipped from a previous video on one of their other channels.
I just thought it'd be hilarious if YouTube's automated system was still enforcing IP for Jones show after banning it lmao
There's actually a lot of nuances in policies like this. It depends a lot on what kind of content is owned (and if it's actually owned and by whom, ie if it's the artists or a production company), where it's owned, where it's being used, how it's being used and how much of it is being used.
For example on the last part, I can't show a screening of Gigli in public, but I can show clips of it in public to reference a talking point about how terrible films are actually abusive if I properly cite and document it.
Weirdly enough H3H3 pretty much set the legal precedent when they successfully defended the Matt Hoff lawsuit on fair use terms despite showing almost the entire video.
You're kind of reading things in between the lines. 1) that the stream was taken down because he 'talked about' Alex Jones, and 2) another youtuber wouldn't have had the mistake corrected. Though this is /r/drama, so congrats for blowing things out of proportion.
Google’s autistic at customer service, because they’re autistic as a company. It’s always been true, ask the poor saps at /r/Nexus6P, it’s not a political conspiracy
That's probably the point. Sure, people with an ideological interest in pushing boundaries will always try to, but most people will accept the "nudges" (as Google likes to call it) and just do whatever the incentives tell them to do.
Basically, he tried to accuse the Wall Street Journal of publishing fake news (I think he said they photoshopped a Coke ad onto some white supremacy video). Unfortunately for him, he only plays a journalist on YouTube, and he was promptly bent over a table with his pants around his ankles while actual journalists took turns pumping him full of Pulitizer prize winning semen.
Some guy sent him a screenshot that supposedly showed he got advertising money while posting the same type of offensive content pewdiepie did. Ethan made a video about it because everyone was thinking the WSJ had it out for pewdiepie in particular. When really, if you understand what the WSJ is, you'd know that the people who read and write for them and people who give a shit about pewdiepie are a Venn diagram with circles on different planets. Then someone who actually knew about monetization on youtube outed it as bullshit. Ethan ended up apologizing.

wat
they've done like multiple hitpieces on him specifically
They write about business and business's ads were showing up on videos with people holding up signs saying death to Jews. A major corporation entered a partnership with this person. That's all business news. People thought that the WSJ wrote about it because they saw pewdiepie as a threat to them. No one who reads the WSJ is going to ditch them to start watching you tube videos. No writer on their staff believes they will lose their job to clowns like pewdiepie. That's what I was referring to. Of course, they are going to write follow up articles about Disney severing ties with him or pewdiepie, who hadn't given a statement to the WSJ, giving his side of the story. How is either of these articles hit pieces?
lol, 👌🙄 I get excitable because this was hands down my favorite Reddit drama spectacle, right up there with FPH getting banned. You know how people could breathlessly talk about who Zoe Quinn banged for hours, days and months? That's me with the Pew fanboys vs the WSJ.
Fucking globalists. First they came for Alex Jones, and we said nothing because we didn't want to be labeled racists. Now they're coming for Ethan for being critical of feminists. We need to shut youtube down for violating our first amendment rights. Google is all about free speech until it's against their leftist beliefs. Alex Jones was right that we need to fight back. Settle it in the streets if need be.

Sarcasm and flippant behavior represent contempt, which is the opposite of intellectual integrity. You seem like a real fool of a human.

Youtube banning Jones doesn't mean that the copyright laws no longer apply to Jones' material.

Yeah, Joe Rogan talked about Alex Jones for like an hour straight with Jimmy Dore yesterday, and his videos seem to still be up.
1 parameciidae 2018-08-10
People on his sub are saying it's because Ethan played a clip of Alex Jones.
1 -Mopsus- 2018-08-10
YouTube has claimed it was a mistake.
https://twitter.com/TeamYouTube/status/1028074212311760897
It must suck trying to get into YouTube these days, because "mistakes" like these only get corrected if you have a large following.
