Contempt as in fines, and being taken into custody by the bailiffs and sitting in a jail cell. You are incredibly lucky that the judge was not only lenient but perhaps sympathetic to you and your wife’s situation.
The full mercy of the court was on display in that transcript, and you thumbed your nose at it. The fact that you should be in jail only goes to show that, despite its imperfections, real justice can be found in American courtrooms.

The finding would be at the judge's discretion. It's akin to someone speeding but not getting a ticket. You're still breaking the law even if a cop doesn't give you a citation in that case.
I imagine Judge Becker didn't think it worth the trouble, or perhaps she saw that you were already dealing with a lot and didn't want to add a finding of contempt to your plate as well. That doesn't mean your demeanor was appropriate and respectful.
Well, think about it logically from the perspective of how best to utilize the court system. If you're dealing with a "non-case" then probably the best way to handle it is to prove that it's a "non-case" in court. Also, she's not a 'judge', she's a real, actual Judge. If she acted unethically or violated some judicial code, the appropriate action is to appeal and file a complaint. Once she addressed it in court you gain absolutely nothing by continuing to revisit it over and over in the manner you did, you only stand to hurt your case doing that. There are mechanisms in place to fix it when judges break rules or act inappropriately.

Contempt as in fines, and being taken into custody by the bailiffs and sitting in a jail cell. The full mercy of the court was on display in that transcript, and you thumbed your nose at it. The fact that you should be in jail only goes to show that, despite its imperfections, real justice can be found in American courtrooms.

Jesus- you can’t even find the the correct paperwork to even file a proper motion with the court. You badgered the judge. Well, think about it logically from the perspective of how best to utilize the court system. If you're dealing with a "non-case" then probably the best way to handle it is to prove that it's a "non-case" in court. Arguments to that end made respectfully are far more compelling than arguments made disrespectfully, wouldn't you agree?
Also, she's not a 'judge', she's a real, actual Judge. If she acted unethically or violated some judicial code, the appropriate action is to appeal and file a complaint. Once she addressed it in court you gain absolutely nothing by continuing to revisit it over and over in the manner you did, you only stand to hurt your case doing that. There are mechanisms in place to fix it when judges break rules or act inappropriately.
