Reddit has been selling out for a while now and making the site more of a marketers playground than a platform for free speech and diversified organic user created content.
Thats why the front page went from interesting and unique content to non stop posts about Disney crap (sponsored content) and stop political posts conveniently all hard left leaning and from the same few media sources (sponsored content, see literally "Correct The Record" for an obvious historical example).
Like 5 years ago a single person proved they could get a post to the front page with few resources and now there are dozens of youtube videos showing exactly how to do it, a quick google search can find companies that legitimately sell you upvotes to guarantee your spot in the eye of the average viewer. Companies realized they could do it with their massive reserves of resources. Reddit has played ball. Notice how they never list where all their donations and misc revenue come from? And thats just at the reddit level with no mention of the money flying around at the parent company level.

It was full of slurs and calls to violence. I woke up today with 30+ messages informing me a reported comment was removed, all for cringeanarchy comments I reported. Most of them made reference to "niggers" and most of them were legitimate calls to action against aforementioned "niggers".
The slurs I give you, which aren't against the rules, the calls to violence I won't. I rarely see calls for violence in that sub unlike in others like /r/Anarchism which is my most reported sub thought funny enough I am starting to report /r/politics more.
I found about half a dozen almost exclusively hate accounts and reported >100 comments for breaking reddit site-wide rules against inciting harassment or violence.

Reddit has been selling out for a while now and making the site more of a marketers playground than a platform for free speech and diversified organic user created content.
Thats why the front page went from interesting and unique content to non stop posts about Disney crap (sponsored content) and stop political posts conveniently all hard left leaning and from the same few media sources (sponsored content, see literally "Correct The Record" for an obvious historical example).
Like 5 years ago a single person proved they could get a post to the front page with few resources and now there are dozens of youtube videos showing exactly how to do it, a quick google search can find companies that legitimately sell you upvotes to guarantee your spot in the eye of the average viewer. Companies realized they could do it with their massive reserves of resources. Reddit has played ball. Notice how they never list where all their donations and misc revenue come from? And thats just at the reddit level with no mention of the money flying around at the parent company level.
Pretty much the only reason I, as what I would consider a former regular viewer of reddit (change accounts once in a while to disregard recent creation), still visit this site once in a while is to view like 2 relatively untouched and organic subreddits.
