The Senate is part of Congress, the other half is the House of Representatives. We elect the entire House every two years, so they're all up for grabs, but only 1/3 of the Senate at a time, b/c they serve 6 year terms instead of 2 years.

That means the current Senate slate is people who were elected alongside Obama in 2012, meaning it's majority Democrats up for re-election, and a lot of them are in states Trump won in 2016 so they are more likely to flip. Democrats are hoping to swing the House (the most likely result is they pick up a majority, but not a supermajority), and pick up seats in the Senate, even if they can't swing it.

In terms of which result causes the most drama, it depends on your preferred flavor. If you want massive, immediate autism storms, than either party grabbing both halves of Congress will generate shitloads of salt, but it'll probably settle down over time as it becomes the new normal. Ongoing, long-term drama will come if Dems take the House but Repubs hold the Senate, since that'll both produce legislative gridlock, and House Democrats will probably go on a spree of passing bills calling for Drumpf's impeachment that are summarily ignored by the Senate, in the same vein that House Republicans passed something like 40 resolutions to repeal Obamacare while he was in office.

Turbinado sugar (6 oz)

Unsalted butter (8T/1 stick)

Flour (7 1/2 oz)

Cinnamon (5t)

Ground cardamom (1t)

Ground cloves (1/4t)

Baking soda (1/4t)

Baking powder (1/4t)

Salt (1/4t)

1 Egg

• Pulse the sugar in a food processor/blender lightly so some of the crystals are smaller. Cube the butter and thoroughly combine (you shouldn't see any obvious enclaves of butter.) I do this by hand in a bowl, you can use the machine for this.
• Whisk together flour, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
• Add egg to your weird sugar/butter putty and process/mix until combined into sort of a paste.
• Combine your dry and wet ingredients and mix until it's all wet but still slightly crumbly.
• Shape into a 10"x12" rectangle about 3/8" thick. (I make these a lot so I got some 1/2" wood trim and made a frame to make it easier/faster) [yes I made it smaller in area to account for the 1/8" increase in height.] Do this on parchment or plastic wrap.
• Refrigerate 90 minutes/Freeze 30 minutes.
• Preheat oven 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Cut into 32 cookies. I cut the rectangle into eighths perpendicular to the long side, fourths perpendicular to the short side using a pastry wheel for the cute little crimped edges. If you use a knife or pizza cutter you can crimp the edges with a knife.
• Place 16 cookies each on two parchment lined baking sheets.
• Cook 30-35 minutes, switching baking sheets top-to-bottom halfway through.
• Cool on sheet.

How much of any given election in a normal state is felons though? Florida was kind of crazily restrictive with its policy (which banned you from voting even after prison and probation).

I can't say I know the actual turnout of felons, other than it being low, but they're about 10.5% of potential voters in Florida. The actual figure this affects will be lower, since murderers and sex offenders will still be barred. Florida has very close races, and felons break hard for Democrats, it could easily end up flipping a future election.
