Man, theres still people in Ferguson who believe the hands up shit. People were still getting pretty heated and ready to swing if you try to point shit out last time i visited.
I was in Ferguson on Florissant when it happened and the thing I remember the most was how much media was there 24/7. There were a lot of people who bussed there over a few days, too (not Soros buses lmao)
Number of people who will think twice next time: 0
This, and mainly because their credo is "if its not about me, I'll make it about me!". So they always keep arguing until they manage to make it about them somehow.
I went to the thread just now (because of this one) and there were strangely a bunch of nevertrumpers standing proud with their outrage despite the facts...because MAGA hats are all the reason they need apparently
It doesn't even slightly matter though because the point isn't to convey facts , it's to uphold a narrative.
They got their story of 'maga man/white man bad' on the news for a while, and the only people who give a shit about it not being true already know that narrative is bullshit.
I'm sure in 10 years, when this kid applies for some public office, they will dig this video out because in 10 years, a whitey, just minding your own business and doing nothing in close proximity to minorities will be viewed as blackfacing 10 years ago is today.
Not in general, but in this case there was a concerted effort to pile on that particular cracker. This is probably not the best situation to try trotting out the LMAO White Privilege card.
Conservatism is pretty intellectually untenable. It's pretty much solely based on individual sentimentâe.g., gay marriage makes me feel uncomfortable so I don't support it. The implicit premise behind it is that the state should step in to enforce certain social norms or cultural convictions.
This can be seen pretty predominantly in the alt-right: whining about non-white immigration, facile and emotionally-based appeals on issues like whether or not we should build a wall, and the use of blatant whataboutism to justify anything that they can't explain away with an appeal to emotion (e.g. Obama detained illegal immigrants too!).
What's so hard about basing your worldview on a semblance of logic or careful argumentation? Why do you feel the need to compare yourself constantly to strawmen of your opponents instead of actually engaging with them? It's pretty safe to say that this 'controversy' is dumb as fuck, doesn't proof anything either way, and will only be focused on anymore insofar as it lets conservatives 'uphold a narrative' and knock down strawpeople.
I've never actually seen a conservative try to honestly engage with a liberal. Even their supposed 'intellectuals' like Shapiro just "debate" college students, and usually only when they have control of the stage.
Another aspect of this is that conservatives just care so much about the most trivial and emotionally-charged shit. Like why would I care if big government forces some randos to bake a gay marriage cake? That's utterly unimportant to me; it barely registers on my radar of things to care about.
And I hate to say it ... but if white men don't want to be made fun of, maybe they should stop predominantly voting for the stupidest people they can find.
I don't think that attempting to 'set up' a debate you know will never happen is courageous ... even if it did happen, what makes you think that debating some random congressperson is any better? Talk to someone who's actually an expert ... this trend of laypersons participating in 'debates' on topics they know nothing about is worthless.
I've never actually seen a conservative try to honestly engage with a liberal. Even their supposed 'intellectuals' like Shapiro only "debate" college students, and usually only when they have control of the stage.
When they try to debate people in congress, they get turned down/rejected. So the statement that âconservatives donât try to honestly engage with a liberalâ is false.
How about the Rubio/Dana Loesch from the NRA town hall interview by CNN in Florida after the Parkland shooting? The media and liberal participants did not participate in good faith in that exchange. Often when conservatives try to have debates they are refused debates or engaged in dishonest arguments.
I wonât say conservatives donât do the same thing at times. A notable example is on conservative talk shows where they have liberals call in and they completely dominate the discussion and shout down the caller often times (even though I agree with the conservative points, it is not an argument in good faith, which somewhat supports your initial point). My point was that there are several notable times where conservatives do try to engage in good faith for discussion. And not all liberals engage in bad faith either. Dave Rubin, a liberal, has some excellent shows going back for several years with very fair discourse with both liberal and conservative guests. One of my favorites being with Larry Elder.
sum up an entire wing of politics, multiple different schools of ideologically thought spanning thousands of years with 'muhh immigration , muhh wall'
surprised when you can dismiss your incredibly shoddily thrown together straw man as anti intellectual when it's built from strictly US politics in the last 2 years.
tell other people they're strawmanning.
I'd point out the irony but I know it's lost on leftists
sum up an entire wing of politics, multiple different schools of ideologically thought spanning thousands of years with 'muhh immigration , muhh wall'
Yeah, pretty much what it boils down to.
Of course, there are intellectuals who have conservative beliefs and are able to justify them semi-competently (even then, their logic is usually flawed and boils down to the emotionally-charged idea that the state ought to enforce certain cultural norms like monogamy), but that's not found anywhere in mainstream conservatism or the alt-rightâwhich is obviously what I'm referring toâwhose beliefs are solely based in partisanship and emotion.
pretend that your particular branch of politics has a monopoly on critical thinking despite the people who invented critical thinking
Imagine thinking that there's a person who 'invented critical thinking' ... or that this objection would be relevant even if there were.
being far more conservative than yourself
Yeah, no shit? People grow up in definite historical conditions and invariably have their views shaped by these conditions. Someone who was born centuries ago is, on average, going to have a much more conservative view on gay marriage (even if they are 'progressive' for their era) because they have been shaped by the cultural norms around them. This only verifies what I'm saying: conservatism is an emotionally-charged ideology which is solely based around justifying contemporary social norms.
So you're doubling down on your strawman, throwing everyone who disagrees with you into either 'Conservative' or 'Alt Right' so they're in nice little bubbles for you to dismiss. The intellectual dishonesty and laziness is staggering honestly.
You won't get very far that way, but it's more fun to see the world in black and white where you're the good guy I guess. Us evil emotional conservatives just reacting to our fee fees are like, so dumb lol!
And yes the scientific method is creditable to those who first established it, and critical thinking was formalised and properly practiced first by the Greeks, Plato in particular was a driving force behind it (also far, far right wing) but he's just a silly old conservative lol!
I'm not going to debate someone who has already decided to collectivise and dismiss the ideas of literally millions of people
I'm not throwing 'everyone who disagrees with' me into one categoryâI am specifically attacking one position: social-conservatism.
You're free to try to justify your beliefs, but I suspect that it would be difficult to justify using state-violence in order to enforce your preferred cultural norms without appealing to emotion or sentiment (which is what I'm arguing against).
I also never refuted your claim about the scientific method (which is a codified process that can be said to have been 'invented'), but 'critical-thinking' is an abstract concept/practice that one may only attempt to explain or 'formalize' ... not something that can be 'invented'.
It's also important to note that the ideologies in ancient times formed within specific historic circumstances, which are not in place today, and can only be very broadly compared to current political ideologies.
Well the investigator didnt even notice the Maga hats, so clearly not doing their job.
edit: this whole report is a white-wash. No credible independent investigator would conclude there was no evidence of 'offensive' statements. How did they conclude the 'tomahawk' chop was intended to be mocking the native group, or the singing along/dancing for that matter? That's before you get to the whole MAGA hat phenomena. A reasonable investigator would highlighted the potential issues, and then came to a more measured conclusion that no direct racist statements were made but that it is impossible to assess intent for some conduct which to some people would be viewed as offensive.
Lol at this guy. Fuck, I might just start voting Republican so I can watch a God of autism rise from the sea and claim dominance over the earth and all its reddit posts.
Have you tried reading any of his rambling speeches? It's like trying to read Kant but atleast you feel like you learned something after reading Critique of Pure Reason.
Except for the fact that the US does not elect presidents based off of popular vote, so when he got more Electoral votes he became the president. Hillary lost, get over it.
Its amazing when I see Americans completely discount their own system, a system designed to help make sure that smaller states still have some say, purely because it goes against what they were told to want. All wisdom from the past is trash if it goes against what CNN says you should think today.
Then why arenât you funny? This is what every rapefugee says whenever they get called out for the sin of serious posting. But do not be fooled, they are not like us. They are an Other who has come here to assimilate our culture. They learn the lingo âbussy lmaoâ, âCOPEâ âTay tayâ And then they use it to insidiously insert their unfunny beliefs into our precious land. They have taken what was once beautiful and reduced it to ash. They are vile creatures and must be exiled and killed to save the purity of our once great land and people. DER RAPEFUGEE AUS ROTTEN!
Inshallah brother. These rapefugees have no respect or appreciation for the local customs of the land. They do not possess the intelligence, humor, or self-awareness to be part of the glorious radical center. When they see a post mocking the other side, they chortle and grin in smug ironic self-satisfaction. Yet, when their side is mocked, suddenly their lips purse and their brows furrow, and they become outraged and indignant. Filthy, low IQ plebs. They must be purged.
First of all, show some goddamned respect to the people who produce your food, you ingrate. Three days without a truck shipment of food into your city and people would start to run out of food. Three weeks and youâd have riots. Consider carefully whether your elitism is having you declare the wrong people your enemies.
Second, itâs not about the individual having a stronger vote, itâs about making sure that those states have any representation at all. Without something to balance out the population factor, youâd have the entire country run by the population centres that might in turn produce policies that work for them but have terrible effects on the âflyover farmerfagsâ as you so lovingly called them. Effects that might impact the food supply...
Iâm not even American but damn am I glad that thereâs finally some pushback on the elitist, fat, useless city dwelling bugman fucks like yourself that donât know what hard work really means.
First of all, show some goddamned respect to the people who produce your food, you ingrate
Why? They're not doing it out of the goodness of their hearts, they're getting paid for their jobs, if they want respect then they should do something that requires skill. Should I be thanking every burger flipper for my meal too?
Also if anything they should be thanking cityfolks for subsidising their crops and opiod addiction with our tax dollars.
Three days without a truck shipment of food into your city and people would start to run out of food
Why do flyover fucks(or their sympathisers) talk like they're doing something that requires lots of skill or like they're irreplaceable? Day by day your jobs are getting automated, if they don't deliver someone from China or any other 2-3rd world country will(till technology renders them obsolete). Known your place in society.
Consider carefully whether your elitism is having you declare the wrong people your enemies.
It's not elitism, it's truth. Farming isn't something that's very tough in mordern times, the shit that's actually difficult is rendered up to illegals. If farming was difficult farmer would be making 6 figures on average. Janitors have more difficult tasks than them.
itâs about making sure that those states have any representation at all
They should try not being a bumfuck nowhere state population : barely ten thousands.
Without something to balance out the population factor, youâd have the entire country run by the population centres that might in turn produce policies that work for them but have terrible effects on the âflyover farmerfagsâ as you so lovingly called them.
They have statewide legislations for that. Although looking at their abysmal performance in almost every hdi metric possible I wonder if they should be declared a colony or something, purely for their own benefit.
I glad that thereâs finally some pushback on the elitist
What pushback? People in cities would be happier with tax cuts than the leeches who are living off Medicaid and welfare.
useless city dwelling bugman fucks like yourself that donât know what hard work really means
I'm sure a horse or a mule can work harder than a human, but that doesn't makes it worth more than one(except if it's something like a welfare leech), low IQ people will take pride in "hardwork" because they aren't smart enough to use their brain to earn their livelihood. Next time you see a rural bumfuck smoke a crack pipe, tell him to thank a city dweller for his tax dollars to make it happen, đ.
Farmers make a shit ton of money. Even small farms, a lot of it gets tied up in equipment and land, but owning a farm immediately means your fairly wealthy. More wealthy than some person living in a high rise in the city throwing all their money away on rent.
Median farmer income is around 68k according to USDA, large commercial farming is wealthy but their owners are more like ceos running operations rather than doing menial farmwork.
I'm just telling you what I've seen. When your cows are selling for 20k a piece and you have 30 your selling, that's a pretty decent income. It takes a while to get to that point, but once you do you become pretty wealthy. And 68k isn't a bad income when your living in the boonies and able to save most of it.
I have a feeling you're from a Commonwealth country, then. That being the case, how mad do you get when Labour or whatever the equivalent party in your country is wins the vote?
lol wut? The libs are the party that represents the "elitist, fat, useless city dwelling bugman" you're referring to. The current PM is even the result of straight-up nepotism.
ah so a canuck version of a Reaganite. Actual cancer.
And again a lot of dissonance, considering Trudeau along with Lester Pearson were the 2 men most responsible for shaping the Canadian left as it is today.
I mean its all up to you, I would never decide someone's vote for them, because all people have agency over their own beliefs.
I just think if you're voting for the side of Constitutional Conservatism and guys like Barry Goldwater, or right-wing populists like Reagan or in your case the PPC, you should have your vote taken away from you. I don't think that should be a controversial opinion.
I've tried to explain to the "we need to dismantle the electoral college" types that what they are suggesting would cause the US to break up as a country, but they really don't seem to care.
If you eliminate the EC, every election is decided by coastal cities. After a few years for dumb people to catch up and understand what that means, you have dozens of states that are effectively disenfranchised since their votes don't matter.
If you eliminate the EC, every election is decided by coastal cities.
First off, thatâs not even true lol. Like 4% of the country lives in coastal cities.
Second, now the election is decided by a handful of random-ass swing states that candidates spend 80% of their time focusing on. What kind of sense does that make?
you have dozens of states that are effectively disenfranchised since their votes don't matter.
That only even begins to make sense if you buy into the retarded EC notion of âstatesâ voting for the president, instead of the people in those states.
You have to believe that people don't care about having no stake in how they are governed
Well last time the south seceded they did so against a president who had minority of the vote, but he had a majority of the votes in the majority of the state's, so the north won the Civil War and the union prevailed
As you admitted as well, the electoral college ensured that Lincoln became president, if the US had something more akin to say Scandinavian parliamentarism, the opposition would likely ppol their votes togheter and just put in place a candidate who maintains status quo
If the East and West Coast tried seceding over the outcome of the 2016 election the civil war would be laughably one sided in favor of the Republicans, not saying it would be likely, but it shows how much the winner of the current electoral system has a favorable outcome in a civil war
As you admitted as well, the electoral college ensured that Lincoln became president
As would a direct popular vote, at least one without runoff.
if the US had something more akin to say Scandinavian parliamentarism, the opposition would likely ppol their votes togheter and just put in place a candidate who maintains status quo
That happened in the US, though. Again, John Quincy Adams.
If the East and West Coast tried seceding over the outcome of the 2016 election the civil war would be laughably one sided in favor of the Republicans
Wouldnât they be stuck fighting a war on two fronts against enemies with more stable economies and like half of their military bases?
Dude, you should stop responding by picking out every sentence, it's faggy and the most reddit of reddit shit behavior
First off you don't know what a runoff election would lead to, it was one candidate who wanted change against three candidates arguing for not touching the slavery issue with a ten foot pole
John Quincy Adams didn't pool his votes with the other candidates to form a parlamentarian big tent executive branch, he won because as with the current electoral college system, if you don't get most of the electoral votes it goes to the House
And in case of a US civil war, the Republicans would be the loyalists, meaning majority of the current army would declare immediatly for the rightful government, they hold most of the industry, and they hold most of the agriculture, the secessionists hold the Metropolitan areas which honestly in a civil war just turns into a burden. Having Cal Tech doesn't mean shit when going up against the Lima plant in Ohio
Dude, you should stop responding by picking out every sentence, it's faggy and the most reddit of reddit shit behavior
Itâs also effective. Means less to read at a time, focuses the points, and saves a ton of time clarifying which part of a multiparagraph thing Iâm responding to.
First off you don't know what a runoff election would lead to,
Thatâs right. But why worry about a hypothetical runoff election when most pop-vote-based electoral systems donât have them?
John Quincy Adams didn't pool his votes with the other candidates to form a parlamentarian big tent executive branch, he won because as with the current electoral college system, if you don't get most of the electoral votes it goes to the House
Same effect, even stupider mechanism. It was Clay supporters being convince to pool their votes with JQAâs to avoid Jackson.
And in case of a US civil war, the Republicans would be the loyalists
Does this supposed Civil War happen before or after the inauguration?
they hold most of the industry
I kinda doubt it, I mean maybe if youâre only counting the crustiest of the upper crust, but even then youâd still have a lot of industrial interests on both sides
It means you're incapable of actually constructing a coherent response, like your average redditor, you also create walls of text, just to make it easier on yourself to behave like a high school debater
Also this entire discussion is hypothetical, so why dismiss it? This discussion hinges on possible outcomes of a 1860 election without the current electoral college system.
As for the civil war, it doesn't matter if it's before or after inauguration, if Trump becomes president elect he's the legitimate candidate if the states who voted for Hillary decided to break out. And are you seriously arguing the West and North East Coast has most of US industry? Especially military industry?
system designed to help make sure that smaller states still have some say,
It was literally designed to ensure that the interests of the slave states had as much say in Washington as the North would. If you have respect for that systen you're an absolute moron
True. Imagine being worthless enough to lose a literal popularity contest while being more popular. That is some impressive dedication to being shit right there.
Sure Trump is an absolute moron, but she lost to that moron while full backed by her party and the Media blessings. Who is the bigger loser in that exchange?
Realistically, anyone that gets into politics is a raging narcissist. Imagine being so convinced that you are right that you want to impose your will/morals/philosophy onto millions of people with a monopoly on violent force backing it up.
This is a good theoretical argument in favor of representative democracy. In practice however, it becomes evident that the average politician is as retarded as the average person
People ask me occasionally why I'm ok with Trump and I always just say "because he's our elected president and the best I can do is root for him to do a good job because that's what's going to effect me most".
Wishing for his failure is wishing for the failure of our country's leadership and, identity politics aside, I don't know why anyone would hope for that.
What a facile position; you could apply it to anyone who holds political power, no matter how abhorrent or incompetent. When did not taking a position because you're too ignorant to form an opinion become, in itself, a position?
It's almost as satisfying as when my dad offers to pay for dinner and I order my steak well done and slather it in steak sauce. Not because I enjoy a burned steak but because the look on his face when I waste his money is so satisfying.
Plus theyâre actually funny.Ever go to a Catholic Church? Shit is the most droning boring ass ceremony. Nowhere near as cool as making a Jew cry because you yelled at him on a street corner that the Holocaust was a good thing.
Not to a huge extent. They failed to build a wall across the Atlantic in the 1800s and ended up with a bunch of Irish, Italians, Poles, and other European Catholics.
Do they? Last i checked its mostly white people living in coastal cities convicted of sexual assault and harassing people. "None of the above" got like magnitudes more of the minority vote.
Do people still read that old book about a genocidal war God who likes nothing more than animal sacrifice and absolutely hates yeast and working on Sabbath?
Just remember: you can make slaves of people, and retain their children as slaves, and also bequeath these slaves to your children as property ONLY if the slaves are foreigners.
Also, Western Civilization is built on Judeo-Christian values.
Ignoring the fact that in Matthew, Jesus repeatedly reiterates that the old testament is divinely inspired, and that not a word of it shall be ignored "Until all is accomplished."
Jesus's teachings do not call contradict old testament. If Christians wanted to get away from the crazy genocidal ramblings of the old testament, then why do they still keep it? New Testament is also not really against keeping slaves/committing genocide either, RE why certain Christians (IE Catholics) have been committing genocide and taking slaves for most of their history.
The murdered suffer from being murdered. They donât suffer anymore afterwards, but the transition is generally unpleasant. And besides, I can think of all kinds of reasons the world would be worse if the murder of conscious humans were legal.
A world with legal abortion is better by economic, environmental, happiness, and equality metrics.
Most of those metrics would also improve if you could just Thanos snap the poorest billion people on Earth out of existence.
Eh, that would probably create a weird power vacuum in parts of the world and end up making things worse. Better to just not have unwanted children born into the world.
There would presumably be more humans who think life would be worth living without abortion.
...Thatâs sort of circular. What would be better about that?
Eh, that would probably create a weird power vacuum in parts of the world and end up making things worse in many ways.
Even so, barring some scenario where this triggers a nuclear war average welfare metrics would improve! Equality too!
What would be better about that?
What's better about having more rather than fewer people who enjoy their lives? Idk that seems obviously good to me. And it's not circular, but I can make the stronger claim that there will be more lives worth living without abortion I suppose.
If you really think the world is overpopulated, then I think you should just bite the bullet on the desirability of the Thanos snap or some sort of eugenic sterilization or whatever. Is abortion really a uniquely-unproblematic population control measure?
Even so, barring some scenario where this triggers a nuclear war average welfare metrics would improve!
Maybe... but why not just use birth control and abortion? That seems easier.
Equality too!
By âequalityâ I mostly meant gender equality. As in one gender not being forced to have another human explode out of their bodies because semen touched the wrong part of them.
What's better about having more rather than fewer people who enjoy their lives?
People enjoy their lives more when random children donât appear in it. And 60% of the planetâs wildlife is dead since 1970, while the human population has doubled. That does not seem obviously good to me.
Itâs not like thereâs some psychic link between humans that lets us all feel more happiness the more of us their are all over the world... Would things really be so terrible if there were like 2 billion humans, on a planet able to sustain that number, living happy lives? Why do we need to push things so far, go for the high score? It seems egotistical, nearly megalomaniacal.
Is abortion really a uniquely-unproblematic population control measure?
Nearly. Birth control prior to that is better, but abortion is much better than culling adults would be. We donât really need liposuction. We just need to diet.
You're not thinking of the socio-economic factors at play.
Look, white folks are a global minority that are constantly vilified in the media, not to mention the disgusting amounts of cultural appropriation the majority engages in.
I mean things like the internal combustion engine, automobiles, aircraft, computers, space flight, and the toilet.
India should consider appropriating the toilet tbh.
I donât recall them being the ones yelling, making threats, childishly trying to flip questions on people and crying, but maybe I just watched the wrong video
So, an investigation team hired by supporters of the school find that the kids that go to the school are definitely not racist? Sounds legit to me. I honestly think they should all be knighted.
no shit moron. if you were literate you could have read the actual report as written by greater Cincinnati investigation, it's linked right there on the page you've linked to.
I'd tip my MAGA hat, a roguish smirk creasing my slightly acne'd cheeks, and I'd tell him that this is America and if he don't like it, he can fuck off back to arabia where he belongs.
There's no more irritating redditism for me than people who respond to comments with the wikipedia entry for whattaboutism, as though this somehow is winning them a point for their side.
Why would it matter if they did? Even if they were the biggest meanie beanie racists in the world the extend of their crimes is standing in place and looking at someone.
On any given day, in a country with 330 million people, guaranteed some minor confrontation between retards in public is happening. The fact that this one made national news and has been mined for more drama, tardposting and seriousposting than nearly any event of this year is absolutely amazing. God bless the kids and injun who together created something more than the sum of their words.
Watch, SJWs will deny the existence of their violent mob-mentality (no self-awareness) and that anyone tried to get these kids killed/punished/assaulted.
I keep thinking thereâs no way to top the stupidity of kidspiracy theorists, like the people desperately trying to prove some teens who did basically nothing are irredeemable to the point of vilifying them are too far gone to believe. but the right always finds a way.
It's too bad r/topmindsofreddit is so lefty biased. There's some genuine winners in this thread that would just be accepted as normal functioning adults on their sub.
TBH if I was the alt-right I would probably just keep my fucking mouth shut 24/7 and just post to progressives doing stupid shit because that would probably be the best recruiting tactic of all time.
I don't know, some of the comments on there are excessively pathetic, a good chunk of the people there are either unemployed or halfway there. I'm pretty sure that CTH would be one of the first groups of people dying in the work camps if tankies ever took power.

Nothing worse in life but having to withdraw outrage because of facts.

It doesn't even slightly matter though because the point isn't to convey facts , it's to uphold a narrative.
They got their story of 'maga man/white man bad' on the news for a while, and the only people who give a shit about it not being true already know that narrative is bullshit.

1 aqouta 2019-02-14
Whites are not humans so the phrase "white people are bad" is,inherently illogical.
1 the_marx 2019-02-14
1 Seattle_Bussy_Lmao 2019-02-14
You know, you're right. Your continued service as the bastion of morality has not gone unnoticed.
1 the_marx 2019-02-14
I've never actually seen a conservative try to honestly engage with a liberal. Even their supposed 'intellectuals' like Shapiro just "debate" college students, and usually only when they have control of the stage.
Another aspect of this is that conservatives just care so much about the most trivial and emotionally-charged shit. Like why would I care if big government forces some randos to bake a gay marriage cake? That's utterly unimportant to me; it barely registers on my radar of things to care about.
1 Seattle_Bussy_Lmao 2019-02-14
Probably because you're not nearly as worldly as you think you are đ
1 the_marx 2019-02-14

1 sweaterballoons 2019-02-14
Shapiro tried to set up a debate with AOC. So did Candace Owens.
1 the_marx 2019-02-14
I don't think that attempting to 'set up' a debate you know will never happen is courageous ... even if it did happen, what makes you think that debating some random congressperson is any better? Talk to someone who's actually an expert ... this trend of laypersons participating in 'debates' on topics they know nothing about is worthless.
1 sweaterballoons 2019-02-14

I'd point out the irony but I know it's lost on leftists
1 the_marx 2019-02-14
Yeah, pretty much what it boils down to.
Of course, there are intellectuals who have conservative beliefs and are able to justify them semi-competently (even then, their logic is usually flawed and boils down to the emotionally-charged idea that the state ought to enforce certain cultural norms like monogamy), but that's not found anywhere in mainstream conservatism or the alt-rightâwhich is obviously what I'm referring toâwhose beliefs are solely based in partisanship and emotion.
Imagine thinking that there's a person who 'invented critical thinking' ... or that this objection would be relevant even if there were.

I'm not going to debate someone who has already decided to collectivise and dismiss the ideas of literally millions of people
1 the_marx 2019-02-14

They shouldn't, farmerfags from bumfuck flyover state #3 shouldn't get more of a say than some random city dweller.
1 incorrectable 2019-02-14
You donât get it, do you?

It's not elitism, it's truth. Farming isn't something that's very tough in mordern times, the shit that's actually difficult is rendered up to illegals. If farming was difficult farmer would be making 6 figures on average. Janitors have more difficult tasks than them.
They should try not being a bumfuck nowhere state population : barely ten thousands.
They have statewide legislations for that. Although looking at their abysmal performance in almost every hdi metric possible I wonder if they should be declared a colony or something, purely for their own benefit.
What pushback? People in cities would be happier with tax cuts than the leeches who are living off Medicaid and welfare.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3481194/
Sorry hun, leeches are fatter than "bugmen".

1 7i75 2019-02-14
Median farmer income is around 68k according to USDA, large commercial farming is wealthy but their owners are more like ceos running operations rather than doing menial farmwork.
1 alphetasauce 2019-02-14
I'm just telling you what I've seen. When your cows are selling for 20k a piece and you have 30 your selling, that's a pretty decent income. It takes a while to get to that point, but once you do you become pretty wealthy. And 68k isn't a bad income when your living in the boonies and able to save most of it.

1 grungebot5000 2019-02-14
I straight up donât see an avenue to interpret what you just said as support for the Electoral College lol
Like how the fuck is the EC help problems of enfranchisement?
1 Zeriell 2019-02-14
If you eliminate the EC, every election is decided by coastal cities. After a few years for dumb people to catch up and understand what that means, you have dozens of states that are effectively disenfranchised since their votes don't matter.
1 grungebot5000 2019-02-14
First off, thatâs not even true lol. Like 4% of the country lives in coastal cities.
Second, now the election is decided by a handful of random-ass swing states that candidates spend 80% of their time focusing on. What kind of sense does that make?
That only even begins to make sense if you buy into the retarded EC notion of âstatesâ voting for the president, instead of the people in those states.
Bitch what do you think the Senateâs for?
1 Patyrn 2019-02-14
It'd sure be nice if way more states had more ideological diversity.
1 SNCommand 2019-02-14
Well last time the south seceded they did so against a president who had minority of the vote, but he had a majority of the votes in the majority of the state's, so the north won the Civil War and the union prevailed
1 grungebot5000 2019-02-14
Lincoln had a plurality of the vote. At worst, the election needed a runoff.
The only guys who got elected with a minority of the vote were John Quincy Adams, Bush 43, and Trump.
1 SNCommand 2019-02-14
As you admitted as well, the electoral college ensured that Lincoln became president, if the US had something more akin to say Scandinavian parliamentarism, the opposition would likely ppol their votes togheter and just put in place a candidate who maintains status quo
If the East and West Coast tried seceding over the outcome of the 2016 election the civil war would be laughably one sided in favor of the Republicans, not saying it would be likely, but it shows how much the winner of the current electoral system has a favorable outcome in a civil war
1 grungebot5000 2019-02-14
As would a direct popular vote, at least one without runoff.
That happened in the US, though. Again, John Quincy Adams.
Wouldnât they be stuck fighting a war on two fronts against enemies with more stable economies and like half of their military bases?
1 SNCommand 2019-02-14
1 grungebot5000 2019-02-14
Itâs also effective. Means less to read at a time, focuses the points, and saves a ton of time clarifying which part of a multiparagraph thing Iâm responding to.
Thatâs right. But why worry about a hypothetical runoff election when most pop-vote-based electoral systems donât have them?
Same effect, even stupider mechanism. It was Clay supporters being convince to pool their votes with JQAâs to avoid Jackson.
Does this supposed Civil War happen before or after the inauguration?
I kinda doubt it, I mean maybe if youâre only counting the crustiest of the upper crust, but even then youâd still have a lot of industrial interests on both sides
1 SNCommand 2019-02-14

1 oss_spy 2019-02-14
I'm trying to imagine what it's like being so #deep to use the phrase "monopoly on violent force" when referring to exercising one's will.
As a president. In a democratic country. Woth free press.

1 Aiwatcher 2019-02-14
Ignoring the fact that in Matthew, Jesus repeatedly reiterates that the old testament is divinely inspired, and that not a word of it shall be ignored "Until all is accomplished."
Jesus's teachings do not call contradict old testament. If Christians wanted to get away from the crazy genocidal ramblings of the old testament, then why do they still keep it? New Testament is also not really against keeping slaves/committing genocide either, RE why certain Christians (IE Catholics) have been committing genocide and taking slaves for most of their history.

1 Abiogeneralization 2019-02-14
There are 7.6 billion humans on the planet.
What, are we going to run out?
1 mtg_liebestod 2019-02-14
Great argument for legalizing murder.
1 Abiogeneralization 2019-02-14
The unborn do not suffer from not existing.
1 mtg_liebestod 2019-02-14
The murdered do not suffer from not existing.
By what metric?
1 Abiogeneralization 2019-02-14
The murdered suffer from being murdered. They donât suffer anymore afterwards, but the transition is generally unpleasant. And besides, I can think of all kinds of reasons the world would be worse if the murder of conscious humans were legal.
A world with legal abortion is better by economic, environmental, happiness, and equality metrics.
By what metrics would it be worse?
1 mtg_liebestod 2019-02-14
Most of those metrics would also improve if you could just Thanos snap the poorest billion people on Earth out of existence.
There would presumably be more humans who think life would be worth living without abortion.
1 Abiogeneralization 2019-02-14
Eh, that would probably create a weird power vacuum in parts of the world and end up making things worse. Better to just not have unwanted children born into the world.
...Thatâs sort of circular. What would be better about that?
1 mtg_liebestod 2019-02-14
Even so, barring some scenario where this triggers a nuclear war average welfare metrics would improve! Equality too!
1 Abiogeneralization 2019-02-14
Maybe... but why not just use birth control and abortion? That seems easier.
By âequalityâ I mostly meant gender equality. As in one gender not being forced to have another human explode out of their bodies because semen touched the wrong part of them.
Nearly. Birth control prior to that is better, but abortion is much better than culling adults would be. We donât really need liposuction. We just need to diet.

God bless the kids and injun who together created something more than the sum of their words.

Watch, SJWs will deny the existence of their violent mob-mentality (no self-awareness) and that anyone tried to get these kids killed/punished/assaulted.

You're right, I would not molest 100 black children.

Christ, that thread
I keep thinking thereâs no way to top the stupidity of kidspiracy theorists, like the people desperately trying to prove some teens who did basically nothing are irredeemable to the point of vilifying them are too far gone to believe. but the right always finds a way.

fucking hell, the hot takes in that thread.
It's too bad r/topmindsofreddit is so lefty biased. There's some genuine winners in this thread that would just be accepted as normal functioning adults on their sub.

This is why it's so important we all vote Trump 2020!
1 Elinim 2019-02-14
I thought trump getting elected the first time would actually provide some good, maybe unify the left to not be a bunch of fucking tools.
Theyâre even worse off now than in 2016.
I hope trump gets elected a second time so these dipshits can drink themselves into an early grave.

TBH if I was the alt-right I would probably just keep my fucking mouth shut 24/7 and just post to progressives doing stupid shit because that would probably be the best recruiting tactic of all time.
