Yes, your read that correctly. I strongly believe /u/MasterLawlz is a Chinese spy and I will attempt to prove it in this post.

This is what tipped me off. We've had the evidence right in front of us this whole time and did not realize it. MasterLawlz is a spy employed by the Chinese goverment to probe Reddit and its viability as a propaganda tool. As for the rest of the "zhcyiD9" link - the "cyi" most likely stands for Chinatown Youth Initiatives, which is where Lawlz was trained and recruited, and "D9" is probably the agent ID. Now, I know you have many questions, and I'll attempt to answer them.

Why is the Chinese goverment spying on Reddit?

I don't think China and the questions about their intentions need an introduction. China is expanding all over the world, "recolonizing" Africa, investing into companies and buying land. They intend to use reddit as a propaganda machine, and their recent investments was a direct result of this Lawlz's work.

It is indeed MasterLawlz's research that prompted them to use Reddit as a primary tool - along with the articles posted recently that, which determined that Reddit users are the least valuable supported this too - Reddit users being worthless retards means you can reach a wide audience with relatively small investment.

Why did they target /r/Drama?

It's just the perfect subreddit, really. There's a huge diversity of content and the userbase is diverse, too, which makes us a perfect target group. We also strongly align with certain Chinese values, such as mayocide, weebocide, or stripping women of their rights.

On top of all this, local users are pretty good at detecting insincere content, which their often label as "bait" or "fake and gay" - this is invaluable data for the Chinese to determine how far they can push the propaganda without being suspicious. The gullibility of the mods and users also meant installing a spy into a mod position, and making every post he makes a sticky, was surprisingly easy.

Why /u/MasterLawlz, how and what's next?

I know this is hard to believe, but MasterLawlz is actually an exceptionally skilled international agent with tons of experience. He's so good, in fact, that he managed to pretend to be an idiot who makes weird posts posts, until he got a mod position. These posts may on the surface appear as random stream of consciousness bursts, or in layman terms, shitposts, but they're actually very elaborate and deep. He used thm to track user reaction - how many upvotes they get, what the comments look are like, and determined what type of post is best at getting people's attention and engagement. This is how he came to the conclusion that Reddit is the perfect platform to fool people.

I can't say for sure what Lawlz's exact motivations were, but I think he's been in bed with the Chinese for quite some time. On the famous zhcyiD9.jpg photo, you can see him with his dog, who appears to be in discomfort - I don't even want to know what he did with him, but I assume it was some kind of initiation ritual involving lots of Chinese traditional food and Lawlz was required to make a sacrifice (rip doggo šŸ˜­).

I also suspect that user called the_marx was also involved in this - and as you can see, he managed to get into mod position too. His job was probably to feed people Marxist propaganda, as his name suggests, and see what kind of reaction that invokes in them.

As for what this means for the future of /r/Drama and reddit, I think it'll become a Chinese propaganda machine. It has already started on /r/Drama, with the zh. links, and it'll only get worse. This probably means the end of reddit as we know it, and the mastermind behind this, the man responsible for all of it is this mad genius.
