For anyone who doesn't know, in 1993 Varg Vikernes of the Norwegian black metal band Burzum murdered his long time associate Euronymous of the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem. Varg was released from Prison in 2009. They have now made a mediocre movie about this called Lords of Chaos.

The thing that interests me the most, in one of the interviews about the murder, Christian casually mentioned that they were both shirtless when it happened. It was obvious to me that he killed Euronymous when the latter spurned his advances. Does this new investigation shed more light on this part of the story?

There needs to be a new version of the Dunning-Kruger effect for people who actually are a little smarter than average but think they’re geniuses. People who have an IQ of like 105 or 110 and think they have the world figured out. People who were told in school that they’re bright, but just need to put in a bit of effort. People who coasted through high school with Bs and Cs, went to community college (but they’ll transfer to that big state school after a couple years, which never materializes), and now are working for a landscaping company, where they have a slight sense of superiority over their coworkers because they get 20 pages into a Nietzsche book every once in a while.

Lmao saw those videos last night. It's rather telling when it comes from the same man who once sperged and made around six separate videos all saying the same thing about the murder of Euronymous. By far my favorite part of the video was, "I have not seen this film. I will not see this film." And then proceeds to do some sort of review for it.

Varg was a frail looking kid. He had the muscular build of a teen girl at the time of the murder. Considering how chubby and out of shape Euronymous was, the fact that Varg said it was a hard fight, despite him getting the head start of stabbing the fat kid from behind, well, does paint him in a rather laughable manner all things considered. If you see photos from him during the time he escaped prison(allegedly because he felt someone wanted to kill him, which considering how he was brought back to the exact same cozy norwegian prison and nothing happened, probably was just another of his wierd psychiatric episodes). The guy was never mentally sane and considering how he likes to act tough and play the viking role or dress in military like attire despite being undoubtedly a life long skinny guy from a wealthy family, he does seem like an insecure overcompensator. None of this subtracts from his ability as a musician, but Varg is far from a badass.

In all honesty I thought the movie portrayal of Varg cast him in a good light instead of a bad one. Even if the movie cast him as an "autistic, insecure fat kid" it did so in a way which exuded gravitas and allowed him to command respect (I'm not sure whether this was just the actor or what the script intended but it was there all the same).

Even in the movie Varg not only transcends the expected limitations of his movie description but also his "superior peers". Whilst they are just juveniles playing at infamy Varg manages to possess a pure and authentic menace which makes him a force to be reckoned with. When he picks up the knife and decides to go and kill Euronymous you know that he will succeed and that Euronymous is in very serious danger. A pathetic character would not have been able to generate such a conclusion (we would have only deduced that Euronymous was going to die due to history. Otherwise we wouldn't have thought a pathetic character would have been capable).

Eh, Varg has subtly contradicted himself multiple times in the past in regards to the murder of Euronymous. First he said he did it after Euronymous attacked him. Then he said he heard that Euronymous planned to kill him from a mutual friend in Until The Light Takes us (2008), and only acted out of fear for his life. Then he stated that he heard of Euronymous’ plans firsthand via telephone call to Sorre.

Not exactly the most credible source, and I’m about 56% sure no one on here had read the court documents he claims verify his statements.

The only people that know the truth are him and Euronymous. In my opinion, he served his time, and is living a pretty chill life as of late. I wish he’d just let it be instead of getting all worked up over a—quite frankly—mediocre film. His RPG is far more interesting than his newer music.

By the way, the film doesn’t really take sides. Everyone looks kinda shitty in it, but I’ll admit that the kid who plays Varg is definitely NOT the guy for the job. Terrible performance.

Who cares whether he cut his hair or not. A lot of what happened in the movie did happen in real life.

Euronymous rearranged stuff, before taking pics of Deads dead body.

Dead sent a demo with a dead mouse in the envelope, he cut himself, also on stage, and sniffed a dead bird in a bag.

Euronymous had a record store, it was the one they used in the movie. I wonder if some of the other locations are the real places as well, like Euronymous apartment, or the house they lived in close to the forest.

Varg stabbed Euronymous many times in the back, and then stabbing him in the head, while Euronymous tried to escape.

Varg is not a credible source of information in general. Killing in self defense, no I don't think so. Varg was not hurt, while Euronymous was stabbed multiple times.

Even a lot of the details in the movie are based on reality. Faust killed a guy because he wondered what it would feel like.

Euronymous might have been in love or might have had a girlfriend or dating.
