I’ve lived with my ex for over a year i’m already resigned to being the hermit crab equivalent of a man. I have nothing to lose cept this bitch i already hate which makes me incredibly dangerous 🦇
I'd rather they emulate someone who is compassionate like Leslie than that other thing millennial do where they put being a snarky, bitter asshole is a good thing to emulate
I don't even think being supported by Leslie Knope is much of a compliment. She was portrayed as kind of ditzy in the show. I mean they all pretty much were except Ron Swanson and his wife it seems like.
Leslie was a lot less ditzy than much of the cast. She didn’t always have the awareness of Ron, but she was often hyperfocused and hardworking. I’d say she has many more positive qualities than negative.
The whole show goes too far. Every character is taken to such an extreme, except Anne who should have had a midlife crisis and done a bunch of scenes for Brazzers while on an opiate binge because shes a nurse in small town nidwest
Nah, Tyler Durden was always meant to be a cautionary figure, you were meant to watch the film and basically walk away with he had a point, but Holy fuck he took that shit way to far".
Leslie Knope is essentially just the used as a mouthpiece by the writers of the show to advocate their own views and beliefs on policy issues and how politicians should behave. She's essentially well-written propaganda. It's a good show, but don't get it wrong it is propaganda.
Leslie Knope is essentially just the used as a mouthpiece by the writers of the show to advocate their own views and beliefs on policy issues and how politicians should behave.
The writers really killed the centrist vibe of the show when they took what was originally a political caricatures and made them into an unironic political mouthpiece.
I thought the first three seasons were a good deconstruction of why people go into government work.
Here to make the world a better place? Congrats, you’re the only one in this building who’s here for that.
Wanna change the system from the inside? You don’t change the system, it changes you.
Want some friends in high places? Too bad,99% of the friends you’ve invested so much time and money into will be useless, and the other 1% will only help you when it helps them, and their favors won’t usually be above board.
See that loser over there who only does what’s asked of him, gets shit on by management, and bores you to tears whenever he opens his mouth? He’s the happiest among you, because he knows his place and keeps his mouth shut.
I'm pretty much positive that Fight Club was just a way of educating people how cults form
An insane but charismatic leader finds a group of people that feel mistreated, gets them together, cuts them off from the outside world, and slowly encourages acts of violence that increase in severity until they do whatever you say no matter what.
Regardless of the writer's intentions the only interesting thing about Fight Club is how young men embraced it. Well, the cinematography was really good too. It looks fantastic for when it was made.
Imagine writing 4 edits because you had heart palpitations at the idea of a fictional character supporting a politician.
Leslie is an incredible person who’s entire character was someone who focused on the individual task and didn’t want to engage in larger political slander.
She continually got pushed around by everyone she opposed the entire series despite being "right", why would this be an advertisement for being a goody-goody who never plays dirty
Leslie’s final great act was getting a large tech company to move into her home town and set up a new campus. Literally the opposite of one of AOC’s first accomplishments.
A big plot point of the entire season was how much that company was fucking over the town
AOC would never turn down an attack ad like one Leslie refused to run against Bobby.
She didn't "refuse" to run a negative ad, she came up with some compromise where it was negative but it wasn't mean. All this tells me is that AOC is not retarded
slie Knope would hate how little effort was put into the “Green New Deal”. The woman was famous for being meticulous and having no patience for not doing the necessary work to support an initiative. Leslie Knope would never have a released a document/proposal for publicity.
This dumbass thinks the environmental nut who is head of the national park service whatever would not support the green new deal lmao
No one would who could read would support AOC's green new deal proposal. Anyone who read that and continued to take her seriously is a brainlet. Fortunately for her, 14 pages is too long for most people.
If you told them TV people weren’t real, would it be like waking up a sleep walker? Would they flop on the floor like a fish and projectile shit on the oven?
They'd probably say something about how life imitates art or something the half remember about the cultural significance of storytelling and archetypes.
Modern 20-40 year olds make way more sense when you realize that basically everything about their worldview was informed by television shows.
Christ, Parks and Rekt are just a virulent moral plague. This is why we need Islam to set us upon the righteous path, and we shall go upon that path soon, inshallah my brothers.

Women who are obsessed with Leslie Knope are the equivalent of men who are obsessed with Tyler Durden

I wish you would emulate someone in the obituaries.

This, but unironically.

Only if it helps you cope with the fact that you are worth less to the world than a fictional character.

She was only ditzy in seasons 1-3 before her character got totally neutered and feministed
1 boredcentsless 2019-03-20
She does stay emotionally abusive throughout
1 MasterLawlz 2019-03-20
Wasn't Adam Scott the only consistently rational character? I'm pretty sure almost everyone else was neurotic to some degree.
1 MyUsernameIsJudge 2019-03-20
Hot take: Mark Brendanaquitz is the most rational character
1 Chin_Up_Chick 2019-03-20
Yeah minus being boy mayor lol

Yeah, if you walked away from fight club thinking Tyler was right then you missed half the point if the movie, and the more interesting half.

1 MasterLawlz 2019-03-20
What's wrong with Marilyn Monroe?
1 KingWayneX 2019-03-20
She was an adulterous prostitute and a drug addict, so nothing I guess.

If I could kill one group of redditors I'd have a real dilemma choosing between Office/Park&Rec fans and r/politcels.
Office and Parks Rec overlap.
1 Unkill_is_dill 2019-03-20
The Office fans?
1 currentyearplusx 2019-03-20
The Office and Parks and Rec shares the same general viewship with capeshit.
1 caringaboutpolitics 2019-03-20
PnR / Office should be as mocked openly as Harry Potter fans. They need the television equivalent of READ 👏 ANOTHER 👏 BOOK.
1 CPT_Clarnence 2019-03-20
Allah damn you, Yakub.
Mayos were a mistake.

1 rnjbond 2019-03-20
So the guy compares AOC to Leslie on a video clip which makes fun of socialism? I'm so confused.
1 TheMayorOfHounslow 2019-03-20
I wanna say Reddit made me hate this shit and The Office but really these shows are garbage
1 THOT-AUDITOR 2019-03-20
Same, never got the appeal of self-aware cringe sitcoms. The fact that its fans are also usually basic and uninteresting is incidental.
1 PM_ME_UR_NIPPLES_BAE 2019-03-20
Fans of the Office make that show their entire fucking identity
1 exsapient 2019-03-20
I would unironically rather watch big bang theory than these fucking twee comedies chocked full of moral platitudes.
The absolute state of american sitcoms.
1 wwaalleess 2019-03-20
I know that you have to be ironically contrarian to post on /r/drama but this take is just too retarded for me to stand for.
1 BeiberFan123 2019-03-20
White people obsessing with Harry Potter, sitcoms and comics argue what made up characters think. What else is new.

It's. A. Television. Show.
This is almost worse than people who compare real life to Harry Potter.
