It seems like every pibble owner I see these days is a 5' 4" 85 lb white or hispanic girl. Someone who's absolutely not gonna be able to hold that dog back if it goes after something.
I moved in with my friend and his mom bc cheap rent and she got a ~1 year old pitbull for their tiny ass apartment and the dog is an absolute menace because of it. The only way you can deal with her energy is to take her out for 3-4+hrs but she won't even let me do that because she doesn't trust me enough to put her harness on, doing that is the only time she gets nippy with me.
So far she's been subservient when it comes to other dogs she meets which is a bit comforting but all its gonna take is for her to meet an aggressive dog and I know for a fact she won't hesitate to chomp it's head off. I feel bad because I want to be a good dog owner but in this small apartment it's practically impossible to keep her under control unless if I want to spend half my day wrestling and spraying her to get shit out of her mouth. If it was up to me or my friend we'd give her to someone with a big yard to run around in but his mom is too fucking attached to this massive hound that the 3 of us in no way should be raising.
I have two pitmix dogs, one that looks a lot like the one in the pic (not at big as Hulk, but hes around 80lbs). My pits love people, but dont do well with with other dogs. I am very cautious with my dogs because Im not a fucking idiot. People see all these cute videos on line of cute pitties snuggling with babies and then everyone is running out to adopt pits. Those dogs in the cute videos have been trained long hours with tons of one on one attention to behave that way. My dumbass pits are over 5 years old and I know they are great with us in our home around the people who come over a lot, but I dont trust what they will do unattended because we are simply smart, reasonable, logical pit-bull owners.

When I was young (4 or 5 ) I was attacked by a dog my grandparents had taken in from an older lady who died at our church. I remember being in the living room, eating m&ms and the dog jumped on me and ripped half of my cheek off, and part of my upper lip.
Funny thing is tho, it wasn’t a pit, or a German Shepard... not even a Labrador... it was a terrier. A little puppers. I still love dogs to this day, but I’m more weary of the smaller ones than I am the bigger ones.

I'm just gonna put this out there- ANY dog can be violent if trained to be so, or raised in an environment where the dog somehow learns that mauling people is good. While it may not be entirely the breed itself, and not entirely the owners themselves, pitbulls do have a tendency to be more aggressive, and more able to maim/kill with how their body is, this however, does not stop them from being a friendly breed of dog if raised and trained right.
My pit/lab was the sweetest dog to people. She loved every person she met, not much of a guard dog. Other dogs she was picky, had her best friends but didn't care for other dogs sniffing her butt.

Yes, any dog can snap. The only difference is that with Pits it can be lethal. It is very rare for a Golden to maul and/or kill anyone, and it is even rarer for most other correctly labeled "family" breeds to do this either. Pits are inherently more dangerous.

Slightly in his defense, he was cornered, underneath a couch, with an arm reaching for him, that he was trying to escape. Pit bull behavior is essentially a refutation of the most important adaptations that made canines successful in the first place. I'm just gonna put this out there- ANY dog can be violent if trained to be so, or raised in an environment where the dog somehow learns that mauling people is good. While it may not be entirely the breed itself, and not entirely the owners themselves, pitbulls do have a tendency to be more aggressive, and more able to maim/kill with how their body is, this however, does not stop them from being a friendly breed of dog if raised and trained right.
