Honestly, I don't give a shit if you've been driven mad by fame or some bullshit. When I see amazing creative people dying depressed in poverty every day and you get to sit on twitter and make half assed 'now yur the nazi' comments, it's fucking sickening.
It’s been going on for years but I still have to consciously and repeatedly remind myself that these adult men are being completely sincere in their endless novella-sized seethings re: movies about cartoon characters.
Marvel fans are the worst about it because it's become so pervasive that you can literally substitute your personality with 'lol capeshit' and people will still assume you're relatively normal.
It really is Marvel fans specifically imo. Disney properties have the worst fanbases
The producers at Marvel seem to be pretty cool guys that just want to make something enjoyable. They're relatively open to criticism and have made adjustments before (the Russos said they had gotten flack for a lack of death in their movies and seeing Logan inspired them to kill off Tony Stark and make a big deal out of it). Plus Kevin Feige even outright said the Marvel vs. DC rivalry is dumb as fuck.
These guys are aware that a lot of their fans are toxic and tribalistic but there's not much they can do about it.
Only one Spidey movie has actually gotten a rotten score (unless you count Venom). Idk why people act like Sony NEEDS Marvel. They don't. At least not enough to take that shit deal that Marvel tried to force on them.
I think I would legitimately quit Reddit if drama got the banhammer. I use r/cars for automotive news and r/cfb during the season, and that's pretty much it.
I won't lie friends, I dabble in capeshit myself, but only DC these days. Marvel hasn't put out a good comic in actual years, and even their good ones aren't shit compared to DC
