Joker is unironically gonna probably be a good movie

Joaquin Phoenix is literally the most based actor in Hollywood. The only, and I mean literal only reason that the media doesn't rank him up there with De Niro and Daniel Day-Lewis is that he gives the least amount of fucks about what other people think of him and has publically disparaged the oscars. If he had played the political game correctly and sucked the right dicks like DiCaprio did then I guarantee he would be thought of in the same way as all those others.
Did you ever watch "I'm Still Here"? The guy literally nearly tanked his own career just because he thought it would be funny. Absolutely hysterical. I have no idea what he got out of that other than maybe some catharsis in making the media go crazy and showing how celebrity culture is bullshit. Roger Ebert literally wrote a whole review about how tragic Phoenix's downfall was. You gotta be pretty good if the most respected film critic of all time takes your bait. I have a theory that his disdain for the town might stem from the fact that their degeneracy killed his brother but I could be wrong.
Personality aside though, I still think he's legitimately the best actor working. If he took the role of Joker then he must have had a realllllllly good ass reason considering he's turned down a fuck ton of money for other comic roles in the past. I had read he was offered Bruce Banner, Lex Luthor, Doctor Strange, and Benicio Del Toro's character in Star Wars but said no to all of them. Doctor Strange legitimately made me sad because it would have been perfect and instead they cast one of the blandest and most overrated actors alive (tell me how the fuck Cumberbatch got a best actor nomination).
The recent controversy over Joker will just make it better.

that movie looks like hot fucking garbage and the only reason it's good is because it's pissing off twitter danger hairs.
any attempt at giving the joker a backstory is retarded. not to mention the pussified version of the joker they're making.
remember when the joker was cool and deformed from being thrown into a vat of acid and deformed other people with a neurotoxin/laughing gas combo? now he's a scrawny little bitch who gets knocked out by thin pieces of plywood.
fuck that movie and fuck you too lawlz.

Pretty sure this Joker is still gonna be a crazed terrorist, they're probably just going more for a Nolan-esque realistic interpretation
3 d-amazo 2019-08-31
yeah like i said, hot fucking garbage.

Nolan is overrated, I will give you that. I thought he was good Pre-2010. I sincerely have no idea why people loved Dunkirk so much.
And Inglourious Basterds is one of the best movies of the 2000s imo
2 TheBigDogAteMyAss 2019-08-31
Nolan can’t write dialogue that doesn’t sound like the opening crawl to a Star Wars film.
2 specialdialingwand1 2019-08-31
loud music that convinces you something meaningful is happening and a frenetic pace that keeps you from realizing nothing meaningful is happening, like every Nolan film post BB
Nolan films are even more of what people accuse Avatar of being than Avatar is itself, more of a theme park ride than an actual movie
3 Leithz7 2019-08-31
your opinion is fucking gay and retarded.
first dark knight (hospital bomb) is an objectively good movie. At the very worst a 6.5/10
9 Mrtheliger 2019-08-31
The Killing Joke is literally all about giving Joker a backstory and its arguably his best story
3 MasterLawlz 2019-08-31
Plus the Joker basically has multiple backstories since you don’t know which one is real
From what few comics I’ve read, I know the struggling comedian thing was one of them
1 Mrtheliger 2019-08-31
The multiple backstories thing is a Nolan thing. Until recently with the whole Three Jokers revelation, The Killing Joke was the only accepted one.
4 MasterLawlz 2019-08-31
.....but the Killing Joke established that his backstory was vague and he had multiple to choose from.
1 Mrtheliger 2019-08-31
We're talking about the same story right? The story where he is a failing comedian who has "one bad day" that sends him over the edge, allowing us to sympathize with him until he shoots Barbara and tortures the fuck outta Gordon, leading to a finale where he and Batman have a good laugh and live happily ever after?
1 MasterLawlz 2019-08-31
he literally said "If I'm going to have a backstory then I would prefer it be multiple choice"
1 Mrtheliger 2019-08-31
That's Joker saying the in the first person, I've never viewed it as "this entire backstory is pointless" and I wasn't aware other people did.
Having The Killing Joke origin be given by an unreliable narrator completely undermines the whole point of the story. "All it takes is one bad day," but at that point Joker was just using that as an excuse for himself. You sympathize until you see the stable Gordon get through it and remember how much shit Bruce has been through
1 MasterLawlz 2019-08-31
I think the point is that any of his stories could be entirely true, partially true, or not true at all. We don't know how much is BS. I know The Dark Knight sort of expanded on it by having him outright give conflicting stories as well as making his entire identity untraceable (they said his suit was custom and his face got no hits on facial recognition software).
1 Mrtheliger 2019-08-31
I've never felt that way about The Killing Joke. Its touted by DC itself as one of the few acceptable Joker origins, there is no way they would do that if Moore had intended the story to come from an unreliable narrator. Killing Joke is up there with another of Moore's works, Watchmen, as a near perfect story, in my opinion, because of the duality of it all. This sad story, someone you can really root for, contradicted by this psychotic murderer. If it's even partially a lie in its important aspects then it loses the weight of its message
On top of that, the epilogue supports Joker's entire philosophy. "How I would kill the Batman" or whatever it's called
1 MasterLawlz 2019-08-31
Alan Moore didn't intend it to be canon at all. He just wanted to do a one-off story but they decided to reference it later on.

Joaquin Phoenix is a phenomenal actor, he's crushing this role whether the story and supporting cast are dog shit or not. The best part is, him being a white male turning into a violent psychopath is really going to continue to rile up literally everybody which is just wonderful.

1 MasterLawlz 2019-08-31
I don’t think there’s any superheroes in this at all though

Super villains count, sadly. At the very least it’s capeshitter adjacent.

River Phoenix's degeneracy stemmed from his being born into a child sex/apocalypse cult, not Hollywood culture...then again, his cult connections are probably what got him in the door in the first place.
3 kratoswithcappuccino 2019-08-31
It’s going to be shitty and even if it doesn’t suck it’s going to influence a billion edgelords and that’s enough for me to hate it.
Also wakeen feenix is a shitty actor with an annoying voice who only gets work because people think he’s The Bad Boy of Hollywood. His image is as carefully crafted as anyone else and if you think that you’re seeing someone who totally messes with the establishment’s head, maaannnn then you’re being fooled just as hard as any suburban housewife that thinks Travolta is straight

I'm excited for it. It's not capeshit shit, just like how Logan wasn't capeshit. To say that this is capeshit just makes you look like a fucking retard with the mental capacity of a 4 year old. I don't even like the character of joker too much but it's gonna be a physcological thriller which is my favorite genre. Also Pheonix is pretty based, in his last movie he was out there killing libertarians with a ball peen hammer. I don't think edgy kids are gonna latch onto this joker like they did with Jared letos trash. First thing I agree with you on lawlz, I'm going to hang myself now because it's a pretty good indication I have some sort of mental deficiency.
1 artemis_m_oswald 2019-08-31
Yeah if this is Logan level I'll be very happy. Maybe DC will stop tryna make trash capeshitter movies (probably not though since Aquaman did so well)

I'm sorry to hear that
2 Burnnoticelover 2019-08-31
I just realized that I’m all the trailers, I have not seen the protagonist commit a single crime. He just runs around, laughs, and gets beat up.
What if the twist is that this version of the Joker is just some dude who committed a spectacular suicide?
2 jerryjoneshere 2019-08-31
Lawlz did you like amazons the boys? I thought it was pretty good but I’m not a cape shit connoisseur
1 MasterLawlz 2019-08-31
honestly I can handle comic movies cause they kill a couple hours every couple months but there's WAYYYYYYYYYYY too many comic shows on TV, it's insane. Every network has like four lol
I might still watch it because I've heard so much. Watchmen looks cool too

The good thing about this community, is it’s still based on consent, as no one is fattened against their will. In a way it’s admirable seeing these women do this to themselves, as it shows a real dedication to work against the grain of society and become the sizes they do.

This place is literally nothing but a left-wing circle jerk at this point. Of course everyone not a left-winger is getting downvoted.
You've all made it very obvious. There is indeed space between TD (Which I don't think I've ever even posted on) and SRD, which this place has become. Sort by controversial. Any post picking on women or the left, is controversial. Most posts picking on men and the right, are not.
It's not like you guys are even trying to hide it. You've been posting BRDs for days. Sharia Blue has a heavy presence here, including among the mods, and BRD posts are the mods signalling that this sub is now fallen to the fempire. Hence why any post mocking a woman is suddenly downvoted, and a ton of weird SRD leftist shit is getting upvoted.
Bird=BRD=Bring Reddit Down; a SRS meme. Try to deny it by calling it out in plain sight, but it is what it is.
It's time for anyone else just plain leave this sub, block its regulars and go hang out in bigger, better subs, because if every place is a partisan circlejerk (and this place definitely has been for the last few months), we're better off in our own circlejerk subs, like CringeAnarchy, which is a lot bigger than place, and no more or less full of retards. /r/drama is just SRS/CB2 circlejerking at this point. Literally nothing they say makes sense, but they all frantically upvote each other and downvote anyone else.
I won't be interacting with any of you further on this post. You know what's happening here. It's very obvious."
