There was a place in Beijing called the Night Market but it mostly catered to tourists looking for selfies of themselves chewing on a live octopus as tanks full of other octopuses looked on in utter horror. They are smart enough to understand that shit; one day there'll be a reckoning and I look forward to it.
Anyway, they shut the night market down cos it made China lose face and that's all anyone cares about around here. Now it's all gentrified and has a Costa.

Actually I've never been to a wet market and I've lived in Beijing for almost ten years. I never even heard the term until this year.
