Dietitian does not equal nutritionist. Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist with an online class and some googling. A dietitian goes to school for 4+ years does a 9 month full time, unpaid, internship, and takes a nation exam.
If youāre looking for nutrition advice, please see a Registered Dietitian!!! (Doctors donāt know much about nutrition either.)
Lol no literally every doctor knows better than a dietitian. They are just stupid women who wants to go the uni and party for 4 years. Dont eat processed food, dont exceed your required intake. Thats it
This is exactly what would work for most people. Itās mind boggling that people can say therapy and meds will make you feel better but flounder when you claim that exercise will do a significantly better job.
Ah but popping pills is easier than excersizing and America is full of lazy fucks. There is still memtal illness sure but they can come at me with that when they exercise 5 days a week at a healthy weight.
Not surprising that a subreddit for one of the most obese cities in America is downvoting you when you tell them to go for a walk lol.
Got a membership at 24 hour fitness. Kind of a shitty gym, but great for me since I usually go at like 2 am. Whenever I was feeling sad, lonely, etc I'd head to the gym and lift for a couple hours. Not only was the workout distracting, seeing the changes I was effecting on my body was a serious confidence booster.
Going to work every day helped a lot, and backpacking was always a nice distraction.
Their gluttonous behavior mangles, distorts, and defiles their body which was made in God's image. Their sins will be punished and their misshapen selves with be tormented for all eternity.
Is dietician the real one or the fake one? One of dietician or nutritionist can be attained by any huckster. Looking at this guy's claims, dietician is the BS one
There's actually an entire abundance of evidence that regular cardiovascular exercise is profoundly good for depression. And not just because you like yourself more when you're not a fat piece of shit either, cardio directly fucks around with your neurotransmitters in a way that's amazing for you.
I had horrible depression in my early 20s, which directly coincided with lowered physical levels.
I started running distance, and started feeling much better. By the time I was in my late 20s I had started lifting weights on a regular basis and I basically no longer was depressed.
Your body and mind are designed for strenuous physical effort, when you pull away from that things get real fucked up real quick.
I've been working out strenuously for over 2 years mainly running and it's really the best thing for depression. Sometimes during bad weeks, I have difficulty motivating myself to run so I at least walk a few miles. It's not the same but keeps me from sitting at home depressed and unmotivated.
i rock climb 4 days a week, lift 3 of those days, and run on the other days, with one day a week off. most days i feel as though i have been poisoned. tonight at dinner with my family, i was thinking about blowing my brains out
real talk, shoving depressed people with sciencesciencescience instead of telling them to just try basically anything that might work just lets them stay in the cycle
This is what bothers me about therapy. I feel like the people I hear talk about going to therapy never really get better. There are probably better ways to spend money towards improving your life than talking to some dude on a couch. You could use that money for exercise classes or something like that.
I feel like the people I hear talk about going to therapy never really get better.
There's a bias toward negative anecdotes because when people are in a good place, it's a fucking drag to go back to talking about their mood disorder or whatever.
There are probably better ways to spend money
There is definitely a benefit to working out your stupid thoughts with an unbiased professional.
I've been saying this forever. The only reason anyone gets into that field is because they are nuts and are desperately trying to understand their own neuroses.
Hell Yeah dude. I remember having a psych teacher dude told us all not to date a therapist because they only try to fix everyone else's problems and not their own lmao. I thought he was just joking then but as I got older I realized he was right
This is scientific fact, more so than the whole field itself. It cannot be understated how insane these people are. Almost all of them go into the field in an attempt to try and fix themselves.
It depends on the therapy. A big part of therapy is learning much more productive coping mechanisms and recognizing triggers that cause some sort of self destructive behavior so you can be more aware of changing it in the future, itās not necessarily always just rehashing shitty memories.
Lol. I tried therapy out for the first time a few weeks back... point-blank told my counselor-to-be at the outset that I was sick to death of politics and wanted to discuss it less going forward.
She proceeded to lecture me about BLM, and about how I should vote for Biden because he's good and Trump is bad.
I then mentioned that I had qualms with both candidates, to which she literally replied "I feel uncomfortable when you criticize Biden, because he's a good man and our republic is at stake" šÆ
Yeah.. thatās not what a therapist is supposed to do at all. Find a new one and I donāt know how you report therapists. Maybe bring it up with the medical clinic?
Iām actually kind of infuriated because this would make someone whoās mentally ill worse and theyāll either stop going to therapy or think itās futile and hopeless.
Therapy is very hit and miss. I tried 1 or 2 sessions with 3 different therapists in 2017 and none of them clicked. 4th guy we hit it off and after 6 sessions over 2 months I no longer felt the need to see him I was feeling so much better.
