I just can't wrap my head around the way they think honestly. Fucking bizarre.

every time I get summoned here, I have a quick look around and find that this place gets worse and worse, it's like a black hole which mangles everything that gets sucked into it. src

I hope lawlz doesn't think we're coming to take his side

Your comment seems to imply I have shame. Are you new here?

Say it. Say newfag. Pls

no I just like making mean comments about you whenever possible because it's fun

haha same

Stop picking on lawlz. He's my 43rd favorite mod, leave him alone šŸ˜”šŸ˜”

Iā€™m seriously doubting that ā€œregistered dietitianā€. I took one nutrition class in college when I was considering doing that as a career and a pretty big theme in it was ā€œdonā€™t be a fat piece of shitā€

Dietitian does not equal nutritionist. Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist with an online class and some googling. A dietitian goes to school for 4+ years does a 9 month full time, unpaid, internship, and takes a nation exam.

If youā€™re looking for nutrition advice, please see a Registered Dietitian!!! (Doctors donā€™t know much about nutrition either.)

no

I can give you nutrition advice without putting in any of that time or effort: donā€™t be fat

Eat fresh vegetables and proteins. Limit sugar and processed foods.

This. So much this šŸ’

remove refined sugar all together and have a balanced diet.

Lol no literally every doctor knows better than a dietitian. They are just stupid women who wants to go the uni and party for 4 years. Dont eat processed food, dont exceed your required intake. Thats it

shut the fuck up non-dietitian

Why the fuck did you just copy and paste a reply from 1.7 years ago?

Why the fuck did you look it up>

I didnā€™t know lawlz was a fellow dallasite, we should get a beer and brainstorm better stickyposts

better stickyposts

I feel like youā€™re implying something

Now now we all know you arenā€™t old e Pugh to drink yet

Even the finest can still hone their skills.

Shame on you for failing your janny lore skillcheck.

Lol exercise and getting in better shape is literally the only thing that has consistently worked for me

This is exactly what would work for most people. Itā€™s mind boggling that people can say therapy and meds will make you feel better but flounder when you claim that exercise will do a significantly better job.

Ah but popping pills is easier than excersizing and America is full of lazy fucks. There is still memtal illness sure but they can come at me with that when they exercise 5 days a week at a healthy weight.

Not surprising that a subreddit for one of the most obese cities in America is downvoting you when you tell them to go for a walk lol.

Itā€™s because they actually make money on people popping pills

Same. After my ex left me the only thing keeping me somewhat mentally healthy was lifting lol. It's like magic.

Who asked?

Ur mom

What kept you mentally healthy after your ex left you?

Got a membership at 24 hour fitness. Kind of a shitty gym, but great for me since I usually go at like 2 am. Whenever I was feeling sad, lonely, etc I'd head to the gym and lift for a couple hours. Not only was the workout distracting, seeing the changes I was effecting on my body was a serious confidence booster.

Going to work every day helped a lot, and backpacking was always a nice distraction.

Good morning I hate fat people

ā€œPeopleā€

Their gluttonous behavior mangles, distorts, and defiles their body which was made in God's image. Their sins will be punished and their misshapen selves with be tormented for all eternity.

Is dietician the real one or the fake one? One of dietician or nutritionist can be attained by any huckster. Looking at this guy's claims, dietician is the BS one

Nutritionist is the b.s. one, but both are b.s. on tbe internet

There's actually an entire abundance of evidence that regular cardiovascular exercise is profoundly good for depression. And not just because you like yourself more when you're not a fat piece of shit either, cardio directly fucks around with your neurotransmitters in a way that's amazing for you.

I had horrible depression in my early 20s, which directly coincided with lowered physical levels.

I started running distance, and started feeling much better. By the time I was in my late 20s I had started lifting weights on a regular basis and I basically no longer was depressed.

Your body and mind are designed for strenuous physical effort, when you pull away from that things get real fucked up real quick.

I've been working out strenuously for over 2 years mainly running and it's really the best thing for depression. Sometimes during bad weeks, I have difficulty motivating myself to run so I at least walk a few miles. It's not the same but keeps me from sitting at home depressed and unmotivated.

i rock climb 4 days a week, lift 3 of those days, and run on the other days, with one day a week off. most days i feel as though i have been poisoned. tonight at dinner with my family, i was thinking about blowing my brains out

See a doctor dude

Who knew /r/Drama was filled to the brim with athletes šŸ˜Ž

Moving around, exercising literally releases endorphins.

Of course it's good for your depression lmfao.

Only fatcells would claim otherwise.

hey why did you steal my sticky?

Probably, I tend to do that

He asked why

Itā€™s kinda my thing.

Depressoids are the worst "oh wow I'm so depressed and there's LITERALLY NO SOLUTION to this except treating me like a baby with a wet nappy"

Iā€™ve noticed that a lot of people really hate being told that their life could be better with certain changes

Not even if youā€™re nice about it. They just hate being told that they arenā€™t powerless and could improve themselves if they wanted.

Iā€™ve noticed that a lot of people really hate being told that their life could be better with certain changes

This explains a lot of the anti freewill/ determinist edge lords on reddit as well

Reddit really despises any suggestion of self-improvement. Even the idea that it is possible is revolting to them.

real talk, shoving depressed people with sciencesciencescience instead of telling them to just try basically anything that might work just lets them stay in the cycle

This is what bothers me about therapy. I feel like the people I hear talk about going to therapy never really get better. There are probably better ways to spend money towards improving your life than talking to some dude on a couch. You could use that money for exercise classes or something like that.

I feel like the people I hear talk about going to therapy never really get better.

There's a bias toward negative anecdotes because when people are in a good place, it's a fucking drag to go back to talking about their mood disorder or whatever.

There are probably better ways to spend money

There is definitely a benefit to working out your stupid thoughts with an unbiased professional.

This is because the entire field of psychology is a cope by people suffering from their own problems. Unironically read this article.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/articles/199707/why-shrinks-have-problems?amp

I've been saying this forever. The only reason anyone gets into that field is because they are nuts and are desperately trying to understand their own neuroses.

Hell Yeah dude. I remember having a psych teacher dude told us all not to date a therapist because they only try to fix everyone else's problems and not their own lmao. I thought he was just joking then but as I got older I realized he was right

This is scientific fact, more so than the whole field itself. It cannot be understated how insane these people are. Almost all of them go into the field in an attempt to try and fix themselves.

It depends on the therapy. A big part of therapy is learning much more productive coping mechanisms and recognizing triggers that cause some sort of self destructive behavior so you can be more aware of changing it in the future, itā€™s not necessarily always just rehashing shitty memories.

Therapy is definitely useful.

Lol. I tried therapy out for the first time a few weeks back... point-blank told my counselor-to-be at the outset that I was sick to death of politics and wanted to discuss it less going forward.

She proceeded to lecture me about BLM, and about how I should vote for Biden because he's good and Trump is bad.

I then mentioned that I had qualms with both candidates, to which she literally replied "I feel uncomfortable when you criticize Biden, because he's a good man and our republic is at stake" šŸ˜Æ

TL;DR: Fuck therapy

wtf kind of hack therapist would discuss politics during a session?

I'm sincerely hoping it was a one-off; I honest-to-god felt like I was the freaking therapist in said session

You should report her if you haven't already this seems like wildly unprofessional behavior for someone that works in therapy

Yeah.. thatā€™s not what a therapist is supposed to do at all. Find a new one and I donā€™t know how you report therapists. Maybe bring it up with the medical clinic?

Iā€™m actually kind of infuriated because this would make someone whoā€™s mentally ill worse and theyā€™ll either stop going to therapy or think itā€™s futile and hopeless.

Report the therapist. You are paying to talk about your problems not to be lectured about politics. Completely out of line.

Therapy is very hit and miss. I tried 1 or 2 sessions with 3 different therapists in 2017 and none of them clicked. 4th guy we hit it off and after 6 sessions over 2 months I no longer felt the need to see him I was feeling so much better. Night and day difference ever since. But you have to find a therapist who "clicks" for you which can be a pain in the ass.

Thing that finally cured me is diet exercise and taking 2.5g of shrooms every other month. They work absolute wonders for some people

r/WowThanksImCured in a nutshell.

Lmfao the second comment I read is bitching about capitalism, why is Reddit like this

My depression was actually and unironically cured by spending time on this sub. And since this sub is at least partially made up of MasterLawlz' stickies, I consider him my part-time therapist.

If something as simple as eating vegetables and going for a run is enough to take them out of their existential crisis, it cheapens the whole deal and makes them seem a bit silly, and so they do their very best to reject that it could possibly work.

Paying for a degree just to know what to eat has got to be one of the most r-slured things Iā€™ve ever heard of. And theyā€™re probably still fat.

I don't understand people who can't grasp how to have a healthy diet. You've been told your entire life to just eat a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, protein and grains. It's not that hard

Fatties eat it up, no surprise.

Lawlzoid you know you can change your preferences so that reddit.com is automatically old reddit. So you don't have to use old.reddit links.

I got a chrome extension that does it automatically so I donā€™t even notice

you dont use netscape?

redditors are such fat pieces of shit lol

as much rslurred as /r/consumingproduct was they were the villains that this website needed

Holy shit literally every absurd thing this website made fun of 5 years ago is being unironically upvoted now

Nice one

"sassyrosebrown"

That just sounds like the kind of username a fat chick would have

Nutritionist=got a degree.

Dietician=sells essential oils and healing crystals.
