If you have a bad cough try something over the counter with just Guaifenesin in it (active ingredient in Mucinex/Mucus relief meds)

This actually works the best for illness related cough IIRC. It's frequently found coupled with Dextromethorphan (Robitussin DM) however recent studies have found the dextro does not actually work well at all for cough, its actually been the guaif all along.

The caveat is it only works for illness related cough, won't have an impact on a smokers cough or something. They did a really neat study where they stuck test subjects in a sealed room and slowly released capsaicin (pepper spray) in parts per million to find the threshold to induce a cough from the participant, and of those tested who were sick with a new cough, the ones who took the guaifenesin needed twice as much capsaicin PPM concentration in the air to trigger the coughing reflex, thus proving it was actually an anti-tussin (anti-cough) rather than just an expectorant (loosens chest congestion), and that dextromethorphan doesn't really help.

I would maybe avoid the dextro combinations because those usually don't have the high enough dosage of guaif when compared to stuff like mucinex, and if you took as much to equal the dose from the combos you'll be taking too much dextro and probably have side effects.

Hell yeah, careful taking those steroids though, getting geared/juiced on top of your godly eviction physique might cause your muscles to rip right through your clothing like Goku or something. 💪

Flu style meds usually combine guaifenesin with an actual cough suppressant which I always found helpful during my heavier smoking years.
