14-year-olds respond predictably when popheads decide to discuss pop music

2  2021-03-11 by TayloTayloBookito

So the Grammys rustled some jimmies this year when they (for what is almost certainly corrupt reasons, but what’s new?) completely snubbed The Weeknd’s extremely highly-charting album from any nominations.

In response, the popheads mods, being the histrionic teenagers they are, decided to open a poll to determine if they should even have a discussion post on the “historically racist institution” that is the Grammys. This vote went predictably: the overwhelmingly h0m0sexual userbase of pop music fans... voted overwhelmingly to still have a discussion post for the biggest night in pop music.

The comments in the pinned post announcing these results are fun and also predictable.

The Weeknd is unironically one of the best artists out. It would have been great for him to get the recognition he deserved but at this point he doesn't really need it except maybe to increase his exposure a bit more. I think social media and influencing is a better way to do that though.

As an OPN fan I really can't understand how the dude who basically invented vaporwave went to being one of the biggest pop stars on the planets right hand guy

Opn has shit taste in women

I liked when he slapped the shit out of Adam Sandler in a movie

I really hope blink 182 makes a comeback and has a second coming of an album like take off your pants and jacket that wins a grammy. I can only imagine the amount of seethe that would generate.

Enema of the State 😍 but Tom's days of writing Blink lyrics ended almost two decades ago now (and holy shit, I'm growing old). It was over when he started Angels & Airwaves

I remember getting my hands on enema of the state on a church trip, and I had to hide the case so it wouldn't get confiscated lol.

I can relate to that! Reminds me of the time I took Weezer's Blue Album on a mission trip. By the end, my friends were all obsessed with it.

They were never even that good, any 90s Green Day shits on their work

Disagree hard there, but I don't really care for how good they are and neither does the academy, the seethe would be glorious.

I am begging yall to say your sentences out loud when using poc, because phrases like 'poc artist, black and poc performances, poc people' be kicking yall ass

t. 17-year old wh*te (they/them) living in Chicago's wealthiest suburb - I guarantee it

I don't know why but 🏴‍☠️/indieheads and 🏴‍☠️/popheads are insufferably woke. It's hilarious to see these mayos gently caressing People of Basketball in one post, then TayTay in the next

hiphopheads will always be the best of these https://i.imgur.com/pVikiWk.jpg

that character arc

Both subs are insufferable at times, but popheads is definitely the more pearl-clutchy of the two.

Autism time:

the majority of users wanted some type of restriction ... When the Grammys finish, we will make a megathread

This is bad electoral math.

Let's look at the actual results. From least restrictive to most restrictive:

  1. 49.9% of users want no restrictions (blue)

  2. 8.2% of users want more than one thread, with some moderation (red)

  3. 41.9% want a megathread (yellow) or want no thread at all (green)

How would users respond if they were asked to choose between no restrictions or a megathread? If more than 2% of red voters prefer no restrictions over a megathread, no restriction wins.

TL;DR: 50.1% of people prefer some moderation, but 57.1% of people prefer less restriction than a megathread.

Edit: more autism

"no restrictions" would be the plurality winner and the instant runoff winner

"some restrictions but not megathread" would be the Condorcet Winner (as in it would win every head-to-head race)

Did you post this there???

Carry on my message

I fucking hate pop music but even I can acknowledge that the weeknd is a respectable artist, one of the best out there today

The Grammys definitely fucked him for almost assuredly petty and corrupt reasons.

Seriously. I only know who he is because I heard one of his songs and had to see who the artist was. I don't ever do that shit.

honestly same

It always amazed me how much people care about music. I love music and appreciate it etc etc, but some people take this shit to another level.

Good for you, just keep on working on fixing the mistake of "caring" about other things too

I already don't care about things like your comment. Does that count? ☺️

It’s a start
